I love how all the people in the background have their own little things going on - conversations, cell phone pix/calls, EMT treatment etc. Like life didn't stop just because a superhero was standing right there.

People are probably used to it by now. They probably get the usual weather, accidents, traffic and superhero fights on their GPS'. "Can't turn on Orange Blossom, Metallo is fighting Superman."

That's half the reason why I love Amanda Conner's art - she always throws in these background things that add a weird sense of realism to a story about a superpowered alien from another universe running a software company.

This is adorable. I was expecting the usual so-very-old-and-tiresome "my eyes are up here!" joke, but the guy is actually acting like a really helpful, sincerely grateful, genuinely nice guy.

It reminds me of Pizza Guy who saved Nightwing, brings up the same "oh my God, civilians in DCU are actually worth saving!" fuzzy feelings.

Apparently during the whole "bring Kingdom Come into the mainline DCU" debacle, the writers actually wanted to bring the "Power Woman" name change in too, sort of the one redeeming return in with all of the stupid. And were vetoed by editors.

I hate to say it, but I kinda agree with the editors. "Power Girl" just flows better than "Power Woman".

That said, it's always nice when someone doesn't drool over her.

Well, "Batboy" rolls off the tongue a little easier than "Batman," too. (And nothing is as awkward as "Captain America.") It's a respect issue.

And frankly, "Power Girl" doesn't flow all that well either, which is why everybody calls her Peegee or Peej. Pee-Dub would be a completely lateral step.

If it's really an issue, though, we could graduate her to "Superpower" or "Powerhouse" or something instead.

I dunno, I've been calling her Peege for so long that I think that nickname will stick no matter what. And DC is really conservative about its trademarks, so they'll be resistant to change.

Except me, I call her Kara -- PG (and all its derived forms) doesn't do it for me. Heh, and we can't call her PW if and when that time comes, unfortunate connotations (is that what you meant by completely lateral?). She's no more "Karen" than Bruce is "Matches" or Selina is "Irena". I'm thinking she should be KL for short, as in Kara, the last daughter of the House of L.

I really like the art in this book. PG looks tough, but cute and not so manish. But I promise you all I shall not purchase this book (Maybe the trade paperbacks in the future) since EVERYTIME I get a book due to the art, they ALWAYS change the artists, and they either get an HORRIBLE artist or a good one that's not suited for such a book.

Yes, yes she is. Or at least she is under Conner's pen. I found Peej's JSA Classified miniseries in a used book store the other day and got it specifically for Conner's art.
