Ditko

To celebrate Halloween this year, I've posted a bunch of my favorite Steve Ditko horror comics covers, all from his Charlton days. I never seem to remember that Ditko's birthday is a couple of days after Halloween (On Nov. 2nd, he turns 82).Well, I remembered this time, and although there isn't a terribly strong connection between both of these themes, it's more reason to post some Ditko. Additionally, one of his classic collaborations with Archie Goodwin, "Room With a View", is also included here. Just follow the cut for horror covers and comics at their finest.

From Eerie #3 (May, 1966), "Room With a View" is Ditko's first comic job for Warren Publishing. His collaborations with writer Archie Goodwin are some of the best comics, "Room With a View" being one of the top ones. It's been reprinted before and I'm sure it's floating around somewhere in the etherweb, but here it is anyway!

Whatever else one may say about Steve Ditko - and there's plenty to say - the man is a brilliant artist. Did he do the interior stories of those comics as well, or just the covers? 'Cause if he did, and they're available to be posted, I'd like to see 'em - especially the 'Stay of Execution' one from the third cover, with the little ghost guy. I'd like to know just what the deal is there.
Also, do I detect a bit of 'Shade, the Changing Man' in that last cover?

Great! I'd appreciate it.
Thanks for the suggestion - I'm not sure posting my scripts on the 'net is a great idea, though. Call me paranoid, but... well, I put a lot of work into those things, and I'd rather not have some bozo decide to steal the ideas for his own. I had actually been considering Craigslist as a possible alternative - you often see people looking for artists on there - and I MAY have just re-hooked up with this guy who I thought had abandoned the project, so I think I'll be fine. Thanks, though!

Hi, Do you (or anyone for that matter) have Ghost Manor #47 that you show the cover of? (It somehow reprinted #31 - which is odd). I would love to see more of the Werewoods story depicted on the cover.

My favorite Ditko story is the Green Man from This magazine is Haunted 14 (http://www.comics.org/issue/170809/cover/4/?style=default)

Its free at this site like all the Golden age Charlton comics including heaps of Ditko.
(http://goldenagecomics.co.uk//index.php?cid=609). Pretty cool site. Maybe someone with more time than me can post the story.
