In many ways, Bissette's finest--and most "Bissette-ey"--sequence in the whole run.

Someone shows up CLAIMING to be the Boogeyman, but has the misfortune to run into the Corinthian, who is quite aware of what happened to the real Boogeyman (They sort of share an obsessisional trait after all), and the imposter (who was by no means a nice person) comes to a REALLY unpleasant end, as the Corinthian, Nimrod (Who guts and fillet people) and the Doctor (Who flays people alive) "take it in turns" with him

The Cereal Convention also has a cross-reference to Hellblazer, with special guest speaker the Family Man failing to show up--because he's been killed (or otherwise eliminated, I forget the details) by John Constantine.

Are any of the other serial killers from anywhere, or are they original to Gaiman?

I believe the rest were new for the story, and aside from the Corinthian and, just recently, Funland, none of them have been seen since.

The Boogeyman returned briefly, alongside Dennis Barclay, as Arcane's zombies in issue #125.

Oooh, crossover! In the 'cereal convention' story from Sandman, this is the guy that journalist was impersonating. So neat to see the original story.

Loved this as a horror story back in the day, still do, the use of the recurring eye motif whenever a number is mentioned is simple, and horrible and memorable as hell.

This story is damned scary...even more so given how little violence or gore is actually shown. The prose (and the character) are just CHILLING. Moore at his level best.
