Date: 2009-10-22 10:33 am (UTC)DC has preview pages from this and Streets of Gotham up at the source. http://dccomics.com/dcu/comics/?cm=13197
The artwork on Manhunter seems much cleaner in this issue. And Kate Spencer has morphed into Kate Walsh. Not that I am complaining XD.

Date: 2009-10-22 09:13 pm (UTC)When CBR added the Wonder Woman forum, Gail had an "Ask Marc" thread, and someone asked about the kids. He said the future seen in Manhunter #37 and 38 was just one possible future for Kate and the gang.
I'm guessing that when the title was cancelled, he wanted to give some sort of wrap-up (not knowing if he'd get the chance to write the characters again), and then later Didio gave him the co-feature in Streets of Gotham. That's just a guess, so take it with a grain of salt.

Date: 2009-10-22 12:33 pm (UTC)What happened? Did he move to Gotham with Katey? Is she visiting LA?
Apparently they were supposed to get married in #50 ;_;

Date: 2009-10-23 12:24 am (UTC)If you don't mind my asking, where are you getting this idea from? I hope that doesn't sound snarky or rude; its not intended to be. I'm just genuinely confused. Apollo and Midnighter (along with the Authority) conquered America, got married, adopted Jenny Q. Todd and Damon have mentioned talking about it (and apparently Andreyko planned on having them get married in issue #50, if rumors are to be believed). And, that's it, I think?
Almost all of DC's queer characters have had romantic interests at some point, and none of them have expressed any interest in marriage or kids. None of Marvel's have that I can recall.
OTOH, a series with Damon scheming ala Lois Lane would be a hoot.
Agreed, but he's been the one raising objections to marriage and kids all along. At this point, I'd settle for just having him back regularly in a book. After the first cancellation (issue #25), he all but disappeared from Manhunter except in issue #34 (the pirate cosplay comment scene). Its really refreshing to have a non-butch gay guy who doesn't descend into offensive stereotyping.

Date: 2009-10-23 06:54 pm (UTC)Not all gay comic characters have been portrayed as wanting to be married or wanting children. Neither Renee or Kate, as far as I know, have expressed a desire for either. Neither have Billy or Teddy over at Marvel. There are reasons for this- Kate and Renee really don't have lifestyles seemingly conducive to raising kids and Billy and Teddy are too young to worry about that stuff. However, the couple here do have a lifestyle (almost, if they weren't so busy) where they could raise children and are at the stage in their life when people generally start seriously thinking about settling down and doing so.
