Some perfectly legal Young Justice

As much as I love YJ, there is an obvious barrier to me posting it here. Luckily, there's a handful of pages from Young Justice #22, by Todd's Dezago and Nauck.



The setup: This issue is pretty much filler after a major story arc (Sins of Youth), guesting various writers and artists. Superboy lost his powers, and is getting by on gadgets from Cadamus. While other characters are off learning lessons with their older counterparts, Bart and Secret decide to help out...








Funny, I never thought how Kon's costume here resembles his current pants and shirt "costume".

Yeah, me too, I pretty much have all the issues. Todd Nauck needs to do more! He's a real nice guy and he can actually draw young characters and make them look the age, as opposed to drawing them as small adults. I also had a pic done by him. Woot. >:D

I love the panel where BArt is saying "Right, first I'll throw the chemicals on to him..." and THEN we see he's holding jumper cables! And Kon pinning Bart down to force feed him sushi is cute...

Gods above, Bart as Kid Flash never looks more like an asinine idea as when we can see Bart as Impulse in full-on Bart-mode

To this day, there are folks who will argue they don't see the difference, or that Bart just "grew up, he had to eventually."

The idea that there are people who can read this and not see the beauty of it is almost as sad as having lost it. ;_;

I have to disagree, at least in terms of concept. Bart as Kid Flash had plenty of potential, and was a natural evolution of the character. Instead of acting on impulse, Bart did what he *thought* was the smart thing and hilarity ensued when he drove the Bat-mobile and tried to ambush Flash with something he read in a book.

Sadly, that's where the concept ended and Teen Titans began to focus on the Small Three.

Bart needed more punishment for putting a spider near food, much less in it (if you can call sushi "food", tried it, I'm with Bart on that one, hate it). Something for the TMI file, the round one next to your desk: I once found a spider in my salad and was not able to go back to my favorite restaurant chain for years. I also catch all spiders in my house and put them outside (no problems killing a mosquito or spraying Raid on wasp nests).

I love the muscle tee and blue denim look (also when Jason Todd does it). The earring, no.

Secret unfortunately looks like she needs a diaper change in the first and last panels she appears in.

The Wonder Girl story by Brian K. Vaughan in this story is my favorite story for Cassie Sandsmark ever.

In the Teen Titans Companion, vol. 2, it's revealed that when DeZago originally came up with this premise, it involved Bart feeling sorry that Robin didn't have any special powers. When Kon lost his powers in Superboy, that offered a chance to dust off the idea, with Kon substituted for Tim.

I find it ironic that so much of the commentary on these pages is about how tight-assed Peter David and/or Marvel is about copyrights when the pages in question show Bart thinking about "gamma rays," "mutants," "super-soldier syrup," and "Spider Fighter"—all clearly parodic references to a rival company's most valuable copyrights. The industry isn't that strict.

As awesome as this post is, it's still not legal. Rules state that you can only have 1/3 of individual stories posted (unless they are 2 pages or less) and you've posted the whole story here. The issue from which it comes is longer yes, but made up of many stories from many authors. Sorry.

In the case of comics with multiple stories, I believe you are allowed to print one of the smaller stories as long as it's not a third and nobody else posted the rest.

Since, (I assume) the rest of the issue was written by Lord Voldemort, it's pretty safe to bet that it hasn't been posted.
