The whole point of the Red Lanterns is that they represent uncontrollable rage.

Again - not seeing why this necessarily translates to evil, any more than the Green Lanterns representing Absolute Will does. Indeed, at the risk of going Godwin, I can think of at least one real-world political movement that makes me one hell of a lot more scared of Absolute Will than Uncontrollable Rage ...

UNCONTROLLABLE rage. The word UNCONTROLLABLE attached to the word rage should explain why there are no good Red Lanterns.

Very little good comes out of that combination of words and what little good can come of it has already been established in Ruffles the Rage Cat.

Again, no more so than ABSOLUTE will, which I still consider far more inherently evil.

Then again, I happen to think that certain injustices SHOULD inspire uncontrollable rage in people, to the point you kind of lose your right to call yourself human if you DON'T rage uncontrollably over them.

It's kind of like the Punisher - I don't think every character (or even a majority of characters) should be like him, and I've protested rather loudly when they've tried to turn other characters into him, but given Frank's background, and all that he's seen, being an unstoppable killing machine is arguably the only SANE response that a human being could have in such circumstances.

There is a difference between righteous anger and uncontrollable rage. First of all, anger implies you may still have control over your own faculties. Rage is defined as uncontrollable and violent anger.

Well that's the thing, they have shown that absolute will can be put to excellent evil usage. They've also shown that red lanterns aren't evil (except at the very least a certain someone), but that because of their nature they can't control their actions anymore, thus creating bestial monsters.


Oh but I would LOVE LOVE LOVE if they did show another red lantern that could control the power and use it in a more heroic or neutral light. Hoping Gardner goes this route really.
