So I've noticed recently that a lot of people have been complaining about the whole grimdark state of many comics and how lots of heroes aren't very heroic anymore, so I figured since I got a scanner working that I'd post a bunch of scans that I've found pretty awesome lately.

First up, we've got New Avengers 58, which I am rather amazed that nobody has posted yet since pretty much every character had awesome moments in it. First, you can look at the preview here to see Carol own Norman. http://comics.ign.com/articles/103/1038821p1.html
After that, Moonstone barges into the place Luke came out of to see if she can find the rest of the Avengers.

She's the goshdarn Night Nurse, Karla.
After that Daken, Bullseye, and Venom are searching the sewers for the Avengers, when Daken catches a scent, and then...

Photobucket

Ha.

Everybody starts all out brawling...

Photobucket

And then Ares shows up and everyone is like, "Oh, crap" and then this happens:

Photobucket

YES. I've never been all that into Bucky as Cap, but that page is great. Even Ares is impressed.

The rest of the issue deals with doctors trying to save Cage's life and Norman calling in the dude with the power dampener so that they can actually cut his skin open and operate. We also cut to Jessica getting a visit from her mom who is going on about how she's worried about their safety until the Avengers get back.

Photobucket

Photobucket

You know, this is one of the reasons I love Jessica. It's been shown before that Jessica prefers not to use her powers, even if it would make things easier for her, but several times we've seen that if Luke or her child are in danger, she instantly snaps back into superhero mode and flies off to kick the crap out of whoever is endangering them.

Okay, next up we have a partial scan of X-Force that cracked me up. Recently someone did a post on Rhane and Hrimhari's relationship and I made a comment wondering how Angel would react to his house being destroyed by Frost Giants. Well, I found out.

Photobucket

I love how Warpath is pretty much like, "Screw you, rich boy" since I was seriously thinking the same thing. Who cares how much it costs, just pay for it with one of your random piles of money, Warren. :D

Next we have scans from the Necrosha one-shot which I wouldn't classify as awesome exactly, but interesting just to see who they have brought back so far. First up is Shinobi Shaw, Sebastian Shaw's son who he apparently killed sometime or other, and then we get...

Photobucket

Holy crap, Leland. I hadn't even thought about him in YEARS.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Poor Emma. One of the things I've always liked about her character is that no matter how much of a horrible person she can seem at times, she really does care deeply for her students and has been tremendously damaged by the loss of many of them. There's a scene later in the book where Wolverine, Cyclops, and Domino are fighting the Hellions and Emma has just kind of lost it and is slumped on the floor saying, "Please...don't hurt them...my children..." :( I totally hope Emma gets to beat the crap out of Selene for this.

Moving on, Warpath, Angel, Hrimhari, and Rhane are heading back to Utopia so they can find out what is wrong with Rhane, when the plane gets hit by lighting or somesuch. Then someone off panel says, "How ya goin', X-Men? Survived the crash, did ya? Well, we've got bad news for ya..."

Photobucket

SQUEE. Oh Pyro, I don't even care that you are all undead and evil. I'm just so happy to have my favorite Aussie pyromaniac back, if only for a little while. And then I'm all like, "Who the crap is this Berserker guy?" and I look him up and see that his first appearance in X-Factor #11 was also the issue where he DIED, so yeah, that's probably why I had no clue who he was. lol.

Photobucket

Oh boy, I'm sure Warpath is going to have quite a few things to say about this one...

Okay, moving on back to the fun, here are some scans from Mighty Avengers 30

Hercules and Cho use one of the special doors to get into the Avengers Tower because Herc wants to talk to Norman.

Photobucket

That went well.

So the calvary finally arrives

Photobucket

Photobucket

I'm liking Clint's Ronin/Hawkeye get-up.

Photobucket

Oh, Clint. If anyone is wondering, USAgent has been hit with the gas that makes the people turn to primitives. Although he is kind of a jerk normally, anyways. :p

Alright, next scans are from Avengers The Initiatve 29

I jut thought the scenes with Diamondback and Constrictor were cute, so I had to post them. I've liked Constrictor ever since I first read about him when he was Deadpool's roommate and I don't know much about Diamondback, but from scans I've seen of her, she seems pretty cool as well. So the Initiative guys are fighting against some dudes who shoot the wing off of a plane which comes slamming to the ground and is about to run into an airport full of people AND run over Diamondback who is trying to find a way to stop it, when...

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

And then later on when the base is under attack we get this little scene

Photobucket

Aw. I kind of love that scan. It's like:

Diamondback: I think the base is being attacked...
Constrictor: Screw that. I want to cuddle more.
Diamondback: Mkay.

Next we move on to Uncanny X-Men First Class 4. The issue had Jean Grey, Storm, Misty Knight, and Colleen Wing having a bit of a girl's night out. They go to a restaurant and are knocked out after eating the food, which Nightshade had drugged. She slaps control collars on all of them so they can't use powers and then she forces Storm to go steal some helmet thing that she then makes Jean use to transfer all of Misty and Colleen's martial arts knowledge into some killer robots. Yeah. Anyways, at the end Misty, Colleen, and Jean, using the martial arts knowledge she picked up from Misty and Colleen's minds, fight the robots while Storm goes off to catch Nightshade.

Photobucket

You tell her, Stormy. XD

As for the last set of scans, I bring you Adventure Comics 3.

Conner is in school when he hears Krypto and is all, "Oh no...." and then runs off.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Can Manapul draw Krypto forever, please? So cute.

Then Conner has Krypto track down Tim. Tim is busy chasing some dude so Conner tells Krypto to, "Fetch".

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Tim's face is priceless.

Whoo, so that's all of them. Here's hoping some of these scans brought a smile to your face or at least distracted you for a bit from whatever grim comic decides to crush your soul next. :D

Did the NEW AVENGERS issues explain exactly what was wrong with Luke Cage? I speculated Luke had some kind of pre-existing heart condition that his powers somehow "fixed." And losing his powers caused it to come back hard.
Others speculated that Luke losing his powers meant he still had steel-hard but useless skin that was overtaxing his heart.

They haven't gone into what exactly is wrong with his heart, yet. The parts with him in this issue bascially had the doctors all freaking out that they couldn't cut through his skin until Norman had Harrow come in with his power dampener. The issue ended with them just starting to operate on Cage while Bullseye whined about how Norman should just kill him and Norman saying, "Why would I kill him? There's so much more he has to offer us".

Well, the still steel-hard part can't be true, because they're able to cut into him when his powers are drained again.
