Aaron "The Mad Whitaker" Bourque; oh sure, he carried it around often, but before his first year of publication, it wasn't even a standard part of his costume. I think the short gloves lasted longer . . .

Date: 2009-11-13 09:44 am (UTC)The gun usage and his debate over whether or not to carry one was written into continuity in BATMAN: YEAR TWO, but most writers gloss it over, which is kinda sad. I wonder if he's even explained to Dick, Tim, Babs, etc. that he knows first hand carrying a gun doesn't make things any easier.

Date: 2009-11-13 09:05 am (UTC)Their later meetings are both pretty awesome, too. But the first is great.
(Although I do wish DC would let their acquired characters sell themselves, Spirit and Doc Savage shouldn't need to be crossed over with Batman to sell, dammit.)

Date: 2009-11-13 02:47 pm (UTC)So really, it's nothing to do with DC not wanting their characters to sell, but more that some fans just aren't interested. Having an unusual version of Batman in there, though, then manages to hold some kind of appeal.

Date: 2009-11-13 09:44 pm (UTC)It's funny to see Doc with white hair (and eyebrows), but I put that up to the Bama look on the paperback reprints. If nothing else, it makes him stand out compared to everyone else.
And I'd bet Doc has figured out the Batman double identity already. He mentions that he didn't smell alcohol on Wayne's breath, which is a hint that something fishy was up. I'm biased a bit, but Doc was certainly at least as observant and analytical as Batman at any point.

Date: 2009-11-14 01:13 am (UTC)So in this universe, Bruce is average height, more on the spindly side, and uses guns. The name is Wayne, Bruce Wayne. Shaken, not stirred. Complete with Red Grant choking him out. XD
