So Gotham is going crazy without Batman and Freeze, in particular, is stirring up trouble. Unfortunately they aren't sure how to stop him. Even when asked how they did it in the past the only response they could muster up was 'nothing', aka 'Batman did it', which leads us to this confrontation. Gotham's finest vs. Freeze, let's see how it goes...



Awesome, yes? But wait! There's more!

Batman? Who needs Batman, we've got the Goddamn Jim Gordon now. The end of the issue even expresses this sentiment as in the final page it's declared that the GCPD is finally going to step up and take back it's job to keep Gotham clean. All in all, I think I like it.

I hate to say it (I really do, because I went in with high hopes), but I didn't like this all that much.

It feels like such a rehash of previous stories where Batman is "gone", and Jim and the GCPD have to deal, but this doesn't really add anything fresh or unique into the mix. =/

Depending on the writer, he ranges from a thug, who just happens to be on the right side of the law, to a good cop with a bad reputation (which he does nothing to dispel). His attitude toward capes ranges from hostile to grudging acknowledgement. His major redeeming quality is a strong loyalty to those close to him on the force - Montoya and Gordon, for instance - though that loyalty tends to be the source of him being a dick a lot of the time, especially to capes.

I was initially excited for the first BFTC issue but after reasing it, I don't know if I wanna be saturated with more gimmicks. I didn't even pick up Oracle yesterday.
