Ha! They're never going to do it, but it WOULD be a kickass way to give Doom Wars some real flavor.

"Yeah that guy you just spent the last year and a half fretting over because of your complicated morals and law? That bitch is old news and I will show you how you should have dealt with him at the outset. I am now your biggest problem and I will not have anything to interrupt me."

It fits with Doom's megalomania and need to eliminate needless variables to simplify the goal, and it provides a genuinely surprising bang to the opening of the event.

But this is Norman Osborn we're talking about, so even if that DID happen he'd be back within a year, and it's almost certainly not going to happen.
