There's a "Planet of the Apes" feel to all this. But overall, it's classic dystopian sci-fi...

Kamandi was created because Marvel got the rights to Planet of the apes and DC was pissed. Great book on it's own tho' I cannot believe no sees the potential in a tv show or film.

It does have that 1970's series feel to it, this would have been a natural offshoot of "Lucan" meets "The Fantastic Journey"

I would get Charlie Hunnam from "sons of anarchy" to play Kamandi.

It's a much more developed idea, though, than the Planet of the Apes franchise--which was really more of a TWILIGHT ZONE episode writ large--ever was.

It a very odd sort of chicken or the egg. Kirby had done a weird future story ( that in itself might be considered a Buck Rogers rip) where the bulldog man was in charge( I believe it was posted in the old 2.0). I don't think Kamandi was a rip on anything they all just grew from a similar Kernel. I read the original book that PotA was based one. Sterling really made a silk purse from a sow's ear.

Well, while I was expecting some sort of a twist, I can honestly say that I didn't expect THAT. I mean, they're smoking cigars! Robots that smoke cigars are just... well, it's effective camouflage, is all I can say.
What I'd like to know, though, is this - if Chicagoland is a gangster-themed amusement park, then what are its robots doing outside the park sticking up passers-by? I can hardly see that being part of their original function - it's lousy PR for a tourist attraction when the attraction in question robs your customers. Has there been a 'Westworld'-type glitch, and the robots now believe they actually are the gangsters they're supposed to emulate?
