Oh, Zinda....

Four pages from this week's BATMAN: CONFIDENTIAL, and the continuing saga of Batman vs old Blackhawk enemies.




Brief recap: some majorly high-tech plane engines have been stolen by an old enemy of the Blackhawks. Blackhawk's body is also missing. Zinda actually gets a sort of nice moment here when Bruce says "he'll use the engines to make superplanes" and Zinda rattles off all the other high tech stuff he'd also need, proving she does inded know her stuff as a pilot, but it's a bit irrelevant since obviously Bruce has already figured all this out and has them en route to the old Blackhawk Island. (With Zinda flying, and yet she seems surprised when they get there.)

At the island, Bruce tells Zinda to circle the plane. Zinda, for some reason, makes a halfhearted, pretty childish protest, calls him "worse than Huntress" (not Helena, mind) as he jumps down onto the island, and then quietly follows him on her own, hoping he won't be mad.





Jesus, this guy. Look, again, DC, that is not how evil!Zinda worked. She was not Shark's loyal half-mindless devoted lover. She was a conniving badass supervillain who actually took over Shark's operation for herself on at least one occasion. Do some fucking research and stop trying to retcon Zinda into a passive traumatized victim.



Aaaaand that's the full extent of their fight.

Meanwhile Batman finds the supposed corpse of Blackhawk, finds out it's... not Blackhawk, and has a video chat with the bad guy.

Oh, and the bad guy is, predictably, apparently Blackhawk himself. Wait, I'm wrong, the scene just reads that way at first because the writing is shitty and Bruce raids Blackhawk's house and beats up on and extorts information out of his employees as to his whereabouts. Whatever, McGraw. At this point I don't even care.

I was just pointing out that bluefall's posts are more often than not very negative. She seems to enjoy hating comics more than she likes reading them, which kind of seems like the norm around here. <_<;

Actually, the title is expressing the purpose of the series: to engender happiness, enjoyment, and love around a character whose current output was making Red Lanterns of her entire fanbase. It was, in fact, a direct positive response to excessive negativity. A reminder that yes, this character is a good and enjoyable one with a great history, and a chance for us all to smile over her again.

But, hey, you're right, we're a bunch of bitter, seething haters here at S_D, where the biggest community event we ever had was "one perfect moment" week and we fall all over ourselves over the awesomeness of Blue Beetle every time someone so much as mentions his name.

I would say the fact you had to make a big "postive" post in response to claims of excessive negativity supports my claims. <_<; And the overreacting with sarcasm and assumptions is really off-putting.

"claims of excessive negativity"...? We were all pissed off about the Heinboot and Shamazons. It was tiresome. I voluntarily chose to shift my focus to something happy. This supports your contention exactly how...?

As for the sarcasm.... you're earning it. Word to the wise: Don't put people off with passive aggressive smileys and condescending advice, and they won't attempt to put you off in return.

LoL, I think you're adorable. But telling comic book fanboys/girls to take a chill pill is like trying to put out a forestfire with a teaspoon. On the whole, I think scans daily balances out it's own negativity with lots of wholesome hilarity. We're not here just to express our massive fan rage, even though it seems like that sometimes.

Polite criticism =/= "you need to relax" or "I hope you don't work in the industry". That's rude, condescending, not to mention insulting, and bookending such remarks between smiley faces = passive aggressive on the Internet.

Polite criticism = "Hey Bluefall, I really think you're overlooking the cool red colouring on some of those pages, and the fact that this is still a comic featuring Zinda post-Birds of Prey and does not include a reference to threesomes. It's not Blackest Night, either. I liked those aspects. Also, Batman."
