Entry tags:char: green goblin/norman osborn, char: spider-man/peter parker, creator: adam kubert, creator: dan slott, event: dark reign, event: the list, publisher: marvel comics, title: amazing spider-man
So basically Spider-Man breaks into Norman Osborn's headquarters and discovers video footage of Norman performing experiments on human test subjects. Norman, suited as the Iron Patriot, battles Spider-Man (and gets the crowd to turn on Spidey) but Spider-Man escapes.

Apologies for the poor quality of the scans in. I'll see if I can get better ones later.

That what is common knowledge? Norman's career as a criminal is generally glossed over (He also did a crying to the camera "I only ask a chance to atone for the misdeeds of my mentally unbalanced days" routine). The fact he's STILL indulging in torture and vivisection isn't known at all.

Oh, because, didn't you know? After it being proved he'd murdered a reporter, a bunch of cops and then attempting multiple people live on television, everyone assumed he'd got better. Especially after he admitted to being the Goblin and making jokes about tossing blondes off bridges on national television, because only nice people make jokes. This is SHOCKING.

Have to say, I like this though it doesn't bear close scrutiny after the fact, Peter using Norman's popularity against him is great (Though given how unstable he is, he might just have killed everyone in the place and framed Spider-Man for it) and his standing up to Norman is nice (Though Norman could have simply arrested him for suspicions of harbouring a terrorist/fugitive)

Good luck managing to close down every posting site worldwide Hand. I doubt that H.A.M.M.E.R. is THAT powerful.

Oh, and what list of targets could Norman possibly have that didn't have Peter Parker on it at the top, probably in CAPITALS, highlighted and double underlined?

I can't shake the image of Osborne telling Sentry to throw the internet into the sun now.

The list he made after the devil made him forget that Peter Parker is Spider-man.

While there are still some severely problematic issues with this - not even related to OMD/BND, but rather, tied into the whole hot mess of Norman Osborn's utterly implausible and insufficiently justified ascension to power and acceptance by the public in Dark Reign - I'm gonna say it:

This is the first time that Peter Parker has come even remotely close to acting like himself in more than two years. In this story, he's a science geek who's clever in combat and stands up for his principles on behalf of the everyman, and moreover, he's gotten such an upgrade in IQ in this one issue that he even opens the issue by pointing out everything that's brain-breakingly stupid and suspension-of-disbelief-defying about Dark Reign in the first place. Marvel, take note; when even your own characters are calling out the inexcusable stupidity of your stories ...

Oh, yeah, and to paraphrase Bruce Willis in Die Hard, he just butt-fucked Norman Osborn live on the World Wide Web.

Only thing that sucks about this is that they're wont be any follow up to this exposure. This was either a plot development so that Norman can have a grudge against both Spider Man AND Peter or it'll be casually mentioned as an event that led to Norman's downfall (which has to happen anyway).

Right, which is part of my problem with Dark Reign. Osborne and crew have already done so much that the plug would have been pulled on him long ago. You know what they say: to suspend one's disbelief is not to hang it by the neck until dead.

Dan Slott wrote this.

Dan "Peter Parker is a Looser" Slott.

This is the first time since the Avengers:Iniative issue with Peter meeting the Scarlet Spiders, he has actually written a decent Peter Parker.

He has written some of the worst Parker since OMD and his Mighty Avengers is freakin crap.

Then he goes and writes this, freaky freaky stuff.

Someone actually managed to write Peter, where for one ENTIRE issue he doesn't freakin moan about money/women/his luck.

Congrads Pete, you're going to be the guy who going to cause confusion among the American people by bringing doubt to the popublic by using sources that are deemed uncreditable (by Norman's Spin on things), just like those guys who braked the people's trust in Bush and Obama. Overall, you going to become considered to be Marvel's Micheal Moore or half the debate shows on FoxNews... that's something to proud of.
