Damn, I didn't know there was an Incredibles comic. Well, I'm off to get me some of that. Tronasaurus should totally hang out with this guy. Maybe there's enough dinosaurs in comics to make a coalition or something.

The Incredibles comic is better than Irredeemable. <_<; But in Waid's defense, he would almost have to try to make the Incredibles suck.

Personally, I want to know who some of those villains in the portraits are (presumably, they're ex-Confederacy members). A guy with a horse's head? (Bad Horse, is that you?) A triple-scoop ice cream monster? A, uh... guy in waders, a mask, and nothing else? A man who's half on fire? And good gravy, a PIPE-SMOKING MUMMY WITH AN EYEPATCH?! Why aren't THESE people on the team? They're miles more interesting than the current members.

I loved how Bad Horse—the Thoroughbred of Sin!—was just a horse in the shot of the Evil League of Evil.

I actually thought it was a bit of a rip-off. I mean, it was funny and all, but I was taking the story seriously at that point, and I was all set for some super-evil cowboy desperado type. (I suppose one could view it as a sort of visual placeholder - you know, 'the real Bad Horse is so evil, you couldn't TAKE looking straight at him, so we've substituted an actual horse instead'.) Still, it was a mark in the story's favor that it didn't particularly take away from the impact of the moment.

I never thought it was going to be a cowboy-type or even necessarily thought he was going to be human.  I thought that Bad Horse was an unadorned horse was perfect.  He needs nothing else.  He is simply a horse.  Or pure evil.

My apologies for posting well after the discussion has ended. Holidays kept me from discovering the comments.

The other members of the team appeared in the zero issue of the series, which (as a prequel) takes place close to two years previous to the current issue. The Confederacy of Crime, once a massive organization rivaled by none, has been reduced to a guy with a pixilated face, a guy with a penny for a head, a girl with roller skates and a whiny shape shifter. The intended implication is that time has not been kind.

And in the interest of full disclosure, the mummy is named Cap'n Mummy, and the guy who was half on fire was also half frozen. I'm totally blanking on the details of the horse right now.

Well, as one of writers of the series, I think it would be bad form for me to post the material. The trade collecting the entire arc (including the zero issue) will be in stores in just a couple of months, I think. If you have a chance, please give it a shot.

I was thinking that either Pixel or Shifty was a Steve Jobs stand-in, which would make Waid's Incredibles a hell of a lot more interesting than Irredeemable.
