I love retro.

After all, this can't be any worse than the horrendously bad Flash Gordon series.

The problem with Buck Rogers is that the 40s serials and the 80s revival are so different, it's almost like two completely different shows. I'd actually rather see a revival of the 80s version, but that's probably just because I was exposed to it first.
The 80s version still has the best intro ever:

(Sadly that's the intro to the far inferior second season, where Buck Rogers left Earth and became Star Trek-esque.)

But it's a teaser that I could have created and rendered in less than a week on my desktop computer. And I'm not all that great at CGI.
Even as a teaser it's disappointing. Oh well.

In fact, I just found an article that says who he's playing:
"Playing Buck's parents were Gil Gerard and Erin Gray..."

The main thing this tells us is that 1) there's going to be another Buck Rogers show, and 2) this time, they're going for a retro-future aesthetic.
Hee, Ultimates Steve should get a kick out of that.

I wonder if Farscape started out as a Buck Rogers remake in the first draft of the script.

Fry wouldn't lie to me!
