Captain America for president?

So once, a third party policital hack met Captain America and leaked a rumor that Cap would run for President:

Even his fellow Avengers differ..



In the end, he decides that the Presidency is part of a system that requires compromise, and he prefers to portray an uncompromising ideal.

I...I liked the Mangaverse...the Evangelion expy Fantastic Four is awesome.

I liked the Mangaverse well enough at first, but they lost me when they started making every single storyline a Big! Important! Story! Where people DIE! I mean, they wiped out the whole Avengers a scant few issues after introducing them. And they were COOL, that's the thing! If you're going to create characters and then promptly wipe 'em off the map, you shouldn't make 'em interesting ones that you want to see more of. Even in the regular Marvel U, not EVERY storyline is a great big blow-uppy Earth go Kaboom sort of story. The first one worked great, because sequels seemed unlikely, but then more came along and did the same thing, and it just got old real fast.

I only read the first trade. Although that sounds pretty awful I shall avoid the rest of the series now.

It's not all that bad - it has some interesting ideas and so forth - it's just not a concept that really works in a series. It was designed to be a stand-alone mini, and all the subsequent storylines reflect that.

Not so. There's a What-If Captain America Ran For President where, okay, he died, but things turned out all right, really. Also, it tickles me that his VP was a black man.

Plus, there's that one Marvel Adventures Avengers comic where they run into the Agents of Atlas. Okay, alternate!Cap was turning the world over to Kang, but that reality still wasn't horrible.

And in Marvel Avengers Giant Size, when the Agents of Atlas found Cap early, he eventually became President and then handed over power to Kang.

I think there was a What If where he became president. The Secret Service couldn't keep up with him.
