uadlika: (devious batgirl)
[personal profile] uadlika posting in [community profile] scans_daily
It's a wee bit early, but I've been home sick for the last three days, and desperately need some cheer. This was posted on S_D 1.0 and prompted me to buy my very first non-collected comic book. So here it is, Christmas, Bat- and Super-Dickery style:

A kid writes to the Daily Planet about whether or not Santa was real and Perry decides that this is the Best Story That Ever Was:

Get him his coffee woman, it's called DICKery, not what you've got.

Jimmy says "I know whose job this is" and Clark goes, yes...."SUPER SANTA."

Batman convinces SuperSanta that what he's doing is quite silly because he is a Big Damn Hero who can't just take a night off to play Santa. SuperSanta goes home to change into his normal Superman outfit, but since he has so many gifts he might as well delivery them anyway....

And that there is quite possibly my favorite image ever. Because what says Christmas better than Superman punching out a Santa-dressed Batman?

Merry Holidays Scans_Daily!

Wow saw the last page on Superdickery. Can now say that Clark was mostly justified in this. Should have waited until out of the kid's sight though.

Are you kidding? That would be the most awesome thing ever.

"I saw Superman beat up Santa Claus this Christmas. What did YOU do?"

"I....I went to my Grandmas house and drank Coco."

"Lame."

I'm now imagining, like, a thousand pearls in the blood. (Blame, one, ALL of those pearl necklace shots in various tellings of the origin, and two, Miller's "And I swear another forty teeth fly out of his mouth" panel from WORLD'S FUNNEST.)

"You're right, Bruce. And now that you've made me think of it, I'll call my parents and tell them how much I appreciate them. Oh, wait a minute. I can't because they died along with almost every other Kryptonian when the planet where I was born blew up."

From Perry's dialogue to Lois, and then Batman's line to Superman about his parents "twitching" (which is almost word-for-word from "Dark Knight Returns", during Batman's climactic battle with Superman), you can tell straight away this isn't exactly canon DC. It's still friggin' hilarious though :).

I bring this up at every opportunity during December: the original Saint Nicholas was actually known to be a huge, muscly olive-skinned man who didn't take shit from no-one and had his nose broken during a fight and was reputed to have punched a Bishop.

Batman vs. the media-produced Santa? No contest. Batman vs. St. Nicholas...that's a more interesting fight.

Kelley Puckett and Pete Woods are great on their own (as long as Woods isn't drawing for Pfeifer), but together they are the best. Pete Woods is my Superman artist.

Awesome, I was waiting for this to come up :) It's pretty much obligatory to see scans from that story around Christmas. And this was the comic that actually got me into superheroes! Someone sent me a link to s_d 1.0 entry of this comic a few years ago, I found the scans amusing, got curious, and then I started digging s_d and wikipedia for more information about superheroes. (My previous knowledge about superheroes was pretty much nonexistent; I knew about Spidey, Batman and Supes but all the rest... I was like "who the heck are Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter?".)
Anyways, thanks for the post, nice to see scans from that story again :) It has a lot of memories behind it for me.
