I think the "God is dead. My dad shot him" line is the best Damien-line I've heard yet. It's hard to hate the little guy these days - he's the source of all sorts of INTENTIONAL comedy.

And I always love the delicious irony of his complete misinterpretations of his dad based on what he thinks is cool himself. He has no idea what Bruce is actually like.

okay, funny. though i have to say, i kinda like what they are doing with stephanie. shes not the best of the batclan. but no one has ever really given her a chance before. other than cassandra. so she has never really had proper training. One week with batman half heartedly training her to get Tim jealous does not count.

I still want Cass to come back and be her Richard Dragon. would love to see her get some REAL training (not that her time with babs has not been productive)

I like that she still has a lot to learn. that said, okay, we get that with her there is a learning curve, we dont need to be constantly hit over the head with it (or skimmed in the head by a bullet in this case) okay she needs polishing, but she is by no means a rookie.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I think that the series is definately getting better from issue to issue. :)

Personally though I wouldn't mind it if they temporarily retired Cass from Comics, at least until someone has a good idea of what to do with her.

They apparently have big plans for her next year, maybe she joins up with Tim (not that way, ew she's his sister) in lookin' for Bruce?

When I had the "big plans" 2 things went off in my head. Either a) they're going to kill her off in 2010 (Didio also said there were 'big plans" for both Blue Beetle and Superboy right before they were offed) or b)she's going to be on a title/mini that takes her out of Gotham for good and away from her family. They're already virtually ignoring her existence already as if the Batgirl line went straight from Babs to Steph with no girl in between, Babs doesn't seem to care where she is, Steph doesn't, Dick doesn't and Alfred doesn't. When only Damien (who's never met her) brings her name up, its a gauge in the esteem she's held by her so-called family.

Because otherwise I agree the most sensible and logical course would for her to be in the Red Robin book with Tim, since she would the most likey Bat-family member who would follow his lead from the beginning because she wants to believe. There is no logical reason at all for the adopted daughter of Bruce Wayne (or as close to it) not to be part of the "Search for Bruce Wayne".

You sum up exactly why I'm so miffed with this side of comics lately! I like Batgirl!Steph, but if we get her at the price of losing Cass, that's depressing. And I can't believe how the family is treating, or rather, ignoring her. Just... lots of horrible characterisation lately!

Presumably after Dick's attempt to get Steph to stop (arguably justified after she got headshot) she proves that she's capable of actually doing the job on her own terms, so they all stop hastling her and let her get on with things.

I wouldn't exactly say that it was mischaracterisations, if only they are reacting to Steph's track record in these things. Afterall, Steph isn't exactly Cass, so she had to prove to Barbara (and supposedly Bruce as he was the one who asked her to look after Tim in the event of his death) that she's actually competant enough to take care of herself.

She's a character in an American superhero comic book. Of course she has boobs.
