Sorry for the lousy scans, I couldn't save this scene till anything better came along. I have been waiting for this scene for so goddamn long I just had to scan it myself as soon as I got home from the shop!

Had to cut a highly slashy first aid scene, but I've got my priorities, dammit! Renee and Hel, apparently as acquainted out of costume as they are in, head to North Carolina and the lighthouse to catch up with Tot and compare notes.


Rucka's always shown a fascination with the possibility that Tot was Vic's dad, and that second to last panel is a glaring tease toward that. Next month's Question #37 is supposed to focus pretty heavily on Tot's reaction to Vic as a Black Lantern, since the story of Renee dealing with his death has been told already. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw more references to that idea, or even a resolution to it.

Moving on,

Is that just a hint of jealousy in the fourth panel or is it just me? Also colors the early scene differently, at least for Hel, considering things she might not know about Renee at this point, but she has a lot of friends among the spandex-types.


Third panel, "I guess he succeeded", I could go on and on about that one, but I think I've got a fic I've thought about writing in there somewhere, so I won't. The photo of him is adorable and makes me wish Cully had done work with the character before (and reminds me how awful his hair looked all through 52!), like if we could somehow align the stars for a Question: Year One (speaking of Cully and Year One's, Black Lightning: Year One came out on TPB last month and it is really great!)

The last panel makes me want to hug them all. Tot needs a hug so bad.
