Thor is attacked from behind by Doom's new creation and Doom reveals that he's been studying the Destroyer armor and has attempted to create his own. This is the result:




So Doom's built his own Thorbuster armor.

And Balder chopped it off. Loki was so annoyed about the stiff neck he had for weeks after, but it was worth it.

Simonson's run. It's hard to summarize, but I'll try: Balder was in a pacifist phase because coming back to life had left him, I recall, with awful guilt about the many he'd slain. So Loki took advantage of Balder having to come, in person, to deliver a message from Odin that Loki knows already and intends to refuse. And, I think, puts in his way lots and lots of living things to force Balder to go back on his vow.

But he delivers the message. He's proud; he has fulfilled his duty despite the sacrifice.

Loki tosses it away disdainfully, and laughs at his joke.

Balder cuts his goddamn head off, and rides off screaming in anguish.

Loki picks up his head, puts it back on, regrets the stiff neck but considers the joke, like TOTALLY worth it.

And there's the essence of Loki in one story. And also an eternal rule: Balder is always TOTALLY Loki's bitch.
