Date: 2009-12-27 11:29 pm (UTC)The first person I remember seeing multiple colors on was Superman (and Superboy), which lead to some people saying he was going to end up being Captain-All-The-Rings, but now it seems like most people are showing multiple emotions.

Date: 2009-12-27 11:36 pm (UTC)Before the scarring but after Young Justice. I really liked him as one of the rare 'non-franchise' legacy heroes and even though he was chosen to go all grimdark I still wish they would have found more use for him other than cannon fodder.
There really aren't enough heroes who overcome extreme disfigurement. Extreme disability/difference maybe (Cyborg, the Doom Patrol, the poster X-Men), but very rarely disfigurement.
There's the Thing and maybe Ghost Rider if he's feeling emo, but what other heroes out there don't let literal scars make them Ax Crazy?

Date: 2009-12-27 11:39 pm (UTC)"This is it. The last issue of DAMAGE. Something I, and probably most of you, certainly hoped wouldn't happen; however, it has. But I'm not here to mope and moan, rather to praise what we have done. We here at Damage Control are very proud of this little book and the fact that we made it this far in a very competitive marketplace with a character who wasn't a mutant, a spin-off from a more successful title, who doesn't carry a big honkin' gun, or have "Blood" or "Death" in his name. Trust me...that's quite an accomplishment."

Date: 2009-12-27 11:48 pm (UTC)He just sounds like a sub-par version of the "Blood" and "Death" heroes only instead of shedding blood or killing people he just breaks your stuff.

Date: 2009-12-27 11:54 pm (UTC)The Thing is really the only hero I can think of who truly has a disfigurement, and even with him it's not as debilitating as being a burn victim because he's effectively mutated into his own kind-of subspecies that you can get used to through repeated exposure.
It just seems like too easy a storytelling convention to portray the disfigured hero who overcomes his/her stigma in order to do the right thing to have never been done before.

Date: 2009-12-28 03:02 am (UTC)It did seem odd though, I've heard Lois-2 and Kal-L refer to PG as her daughter so "uncle" seemed kinda awkward but hey.
