"I Remember Gwen"
Jan. 17th, 2010 01:21 pm
I posted a panel from this story the other day, and it inspired an...interesting discussion. Here's the context behind it. It comes from Amazing Spider-Man #365. Tom DeFalco plotted it, Stan Lee wrote the script and John Romita Sr. illustrated it.

Mary Jane thinks about the day Captain Stacy died, in which during a fight between Doctor Octopus and Spider-Man, a chimney fell over and Stacy was crushed saving a little boy from being hit.

Date: 2010-01-17 07:22 pm (UTC)I know it's a huge comics moment, and a fantastic issue but her death is one thing I would change in comics.

Viewing the contents used to require asking login/pwd from scans_daily mods, but nowadays the page doesn't demand the password anymore for some reason.
Anyway, some of the last posts of s_d 1.0 are lost forever, but the Gwen Stacy series by 5thbeatle is still there. Press Ctrl+F to search "Julio's Take On Gwen Stacy" (without quotation marks), and you should find all the parts that were posted. The comments are not saved on the back-up though, which is a pity.
I think that 5thbeatle was gonna make some kind of wrap-up post after part 19, but that was never finished/posted. Also, all the text is in one long string and hard to read on the back-up site, and if you want it to be more readable, you're gonna need to save html files on your computer and fix the html code manually by adding <p> tags. (I saved and fixed the files on my own computer, so that I wouldn't lose the series again in case that back-up ever goes down.)
But yeah, I loved that Gwen Stacy series <3 It was some of the most informative and interesting stuff ever posted on the comm.
