Attempting to flee Roberta the Terminator Maid, the Lagoon Company accidentally crash their car into a cargo container.

Anyway, Revy wakes up, having been knocked out when Roberta exploded the bar in the last issue. She immediately decides to start a fight with Roberta, but in the ensuing gun battle they don't seem to be able to hit each other. They end up in a Mexican Standoff, which is interupted by Balalaika, the head of the local Russian mafia syndicate and former special forces soldier and her henchmen, who also are former soldiers.

Balalaika tell's the LC, Roberta and the kid that Hotel Moscow, her gang, had been planning to wage war on the Cartel that had kidnapped the kid for some time. Right now her men had wiped out the Cartel's members back in South America, and now due to Roberta's actions they had been annihilated in Roanapur too.

"Captain" Balalaika tells Roberta that she and the kid can go home, without any interence from them. However, Revy isn't happy about this, she still wants to beat up Roberta in order to see who wins.

So they do,

Roberta explains that she wears the glasses in order to stay in character as his made, not as the assassin she was prior to getting empolyed by his father.

So Roberta wins by her remaining concious at the end of the fight. The LC are left to wonder how to break the news to Revy when she regains conciousness...

And a bit from the episode the issue was made into,

I think Balalaika is the one crime boss that the Punisher could not take down.

Nah, he's taken the male version of her before.

Frank always has a +5 bonus when he's killing mob bosses.

One mob boss.

The thing about Roanapur is that they are willing to work together and share information readily.

Balalaika's just the best tactician of the bunch.

The real worry is him getting to Roanapur--it's possibly the one munadne place that would chew him up.

But it would be awesome.

Frank has wasted alliances of mob groups and other criminal groups before.

The groups in Roanapur work together reluctantly and they're always ready to back-stab.

Balalaika's crew run things because they use military tactics against bloodthirsty amateurs. But Frank was killing Russians and Russian-trained troops before he was the Punisher. Check out the Slavers and Mother Russia arcs to see my point.

Frank might love Roanapur, with so many crooks and so few civvies, it's practically a free-fire zone. In one of Ennis's earlier Punisher disposes with a whole island of mercs. It's truly awesome.

But you're right about it being fun. Nothing else then an issue long Frank/Revy fight would do!

Frank has had to run away when confronted by people with actual military training though, or had to resort to "fighting dirty". For example in the Slavers, the villains were veterans of the various wars in Bosnia etc. and when Frank gave into the urge to shoot one that was standing directly above him on a jetty (he as in a lake), the others immediately fell into position and started firing at him in such a way that he had to run in order to get out of their alive.

And in the Green Beret and SAS storylines he had to resort to sniping the (corrupt) SAS members from long distance, or making them walk into a room where about two dozen flashbang grenades were all rigged to blow (he didn't want to kill the GBs).

She fell for it!

Great facial expressions in this manga. BL is LOL when it's not gut-wrenchingly depressing.
