War of Kings: Accidental PR Coup

Remember the Bush Administration, when, whenever the incredible callousness of most of its membership came to light, they'd wheel out Laura Bush, who plausibly cared about what happened to people outside the super-rich?
Anyway, the aftermath of the Shi'ar invasion, mass rioting has broken out through the empire, blaming their new rulers. Black Bolt, Medusa et al. totally fail at public relations, which is realistic since
1) They're a bunch of imperious technocrats
2) They're used to running a compliant semi-absolute monarchy
and have very little success calming everybody.

See what I meant about failing at public relations? If not for Lorna (who clearly has a future in political consulting), that priceless moment of authenticity would have been totally wasted. Only the Earther recognizes it for what it truly is: damn good propaganda.
A later conversation:
Maximus: I hear she excelled herself today.
Karnak: The Kree people have warmed to her, Maximus. Viral feed from the infirmary has spread throughout the Empire comm-net. A canny move on her part. She made it seem very natural.
Medusa: That's just simple statecraft. We were all trained in it.
Maximus: They're already calling her "the people's princess".
Medusa: Pah!

Date: 2009-04-01 06:17 pm (UTC)I think Marvel would like it to seem to fans that Lorna and Pietro were on X-Factor at the same time so it makes sense that he'd introduce his wife to his sister. Except at that point Pietro and Lorna weren't siblings.
It's also possible that Inhuman law may say that the end of a marriage doesn't end the familial connections.

This is not necessarily a bad idea, and it's certainly well rendered...but I keep thinking "how does that work exactly, doesn't it get distorted and look like crap as her hair grows, does she have to remove it and reapply it every day" and it kind of takes me out of the moment within the story.
