For what it's worth, I suspect it's the ring and rage talking there as much as Mera.

That's what I'm thinking too--the latest issue of GLC comes to mind, where Guy refuses to believe that Kyle's still alive even when Kyle is standing right in front of him, believing it has to be a trick by the Black Lanterns.

If I were to guess, since her child was murdered, she feels so angry about herself and what happened that part of her wishes she never had her child so that no harm could ever become from it.

I'm really surprised they pulled out the Artie Jr. card at this point. I would have thought that's one of the first things BL Aquaman would have done. And there's a difference between "never wanting children" and loving them once you had them. The death of A.J. was something that strained Arthur and Mera's relationship forever after (and still no sign of BL Baby Cerdian?).

I know Blackest Night has some critics and I'm not a huge fan of Geoff Johns' love of gore and blood and death but this is the most interesting "event" in-continuity story I've read in a long, long time BECAUSE I have no clue how it's going to turn out.

I assume (like most others IMO) that Martian Manhunter and Aquaman will be resurrected when this is over (since their deaths seemed clearly planned with this story in-mind) as well as Tempest, the Hawks and of all people Hank Hall/Hawk/Monarch/Extant (there's been a LOT of clues dropped for the latter) yet DC can't bring everyone back can it (however much it should)? Who gets to come back to life, who stays dead. How will they explain it when it happens. That's what I want to see.

One doesn't pull out their best card at the very beginning. Aquaman Jr. was probably their ace in the hole in case the rest of the Aqua family wasn't enough. Of course, they didn't expect her getting a red ring.

How so? It looks about the same--only difference being perspective and Mahnke's interpretation.

And while I can see why people complain about the boob and pelvis window (though I still think it's not really that bad--far better then Carol's really), but what's wrong with her eyes being violet? Maybe it's the JL/JLU series getting in my head, but I always assumed that their eyes reflected the color of their rings--barring that they don't have the masked white-eyes.

Seconded on the awesomeness and hilarity--words cannot describe how much I love that "COME BACK, MY KING!" bit. It makes me think Black Lantern Aquaman's running away from Mera like on of the Human Resource Agents for B.E.Y.O.N.D. in Nextwave, song and all. :D

With the way that people have gone on about how Scans_Daily is just for looking at/reading comics without actually buying them, I would just like to say that because of scans and comments by other readers on this community that a few weeks ago I went out and bought Blackest Night 0-6 along with the Wonder Woman, Catwoman, and Suicide Squad tie-ins and am currently looking for a few issues of the Superman and Batman tie-ins that they were out of. I also picked up the most recent Green Lantern Corps issues and am now contemplating buying the rest of the series over time along with some of the Green Lantern issues dealing with the different colored corps. And this is coming from a person who has NEVER been interested in Green Lantern stuff, aside from Guy. In conclusion I would like to say that while I personally love Scans_Daily, my wallet does not. :D


That being said, I love how in the preview Larfleeze is eyeballing Luthor like he's two seconds away from attacking him to get the ring back.

Mera exclaiming she never wanted children makes me think of the car scene in Knocked Up like she's angry at Arthur that her Mer-Vagina will never be the same because of Arthur Jr.

...and I'm new (I consider myself uneducated to the whole Aquafamily mythos) but was Aquababy ripped into pieces? I'm wondering why he has Sally-stitches all over him.
