Thor defeats the Doomstroyer by hitting it until its finite power supply runs out, and Balder locates Kelda's heart while also euthanizing all the remaining test subjects in Doom's lab:

 

The Asgardians head home, and, after two good issues, Balder's back to being a chump, as Loki is allowed to remain in Asgard.



Is that...green nail polish? 




Cloning Loki.  Yeah, best plan ever!

I'd be skeptical that this will come up in the "Siege" tie-in, so whose plot point is Gillen setting up here, I wonder?  Fraction, most likely.

Damnnit Doom, why are you wasting time cloning Loki when you should be doing the logical thing and clone Bill?

I don't, personally. He was fine for what he was, but under JMS he hijacked the book toward the end, necessitating Balder and Thor both being written as utterly incompetent so that he could save the day (with Thor reduced to cameos in his own title).

Considering Balder's still being an idiot without Bill around, I doubt it was his presence in the title causing the stupidity.

I've been reading it in collections, so I haven't hit that yet.

I agree but I still would've given Bill back to Kelda and let them ride off with their happily ever after (so to speak) into comic book limbo.

What can I say, I'm a sucker for happy endings.

Bill born of Bills was pretty much the only semi-unique angle in the "Oh wait, Loki's a dick. Again. And everyone falls for it. Then Doom makes a plan that doesn't work. Again." thing.

... I'm completely burning out on serials. Back to the indies.
