Thor defeats the Doomstroyer by hitting it until its finite power supply runs out, and Balder locates Kelda's heart while also euthanizing all the remaining test subjects in Doom's lab:

 

The Asgardians head home, and, after two good issues, Balder's back to being a chump, as Loki is allowed to remain in Asgard.

I'd be skeptical that this will come up in the "Siege" tie-in, so whose plot point is Gillen setting up here, I wonder?  Fraction, most likely.

I don't, personally. He was fine for what he was, but under JMS he hijacked the book toward the end, necessitating Balder and Thor both being written as utterly incompetent so that he could save the day (with Thor reduced to cameos in his own title).

Clever Doom. Using his atrocities upon the Asgardians to distract the God of Lies from his true goal - finding a way to take out Loki. Games within games.

Well, the Clor aka Ragnarok that was made in Civil War is actually out searching for the real Thor right now. I think he's supposed to show up during the Siege arc or something pretty soon.

Hmmm, I can't see Bill doing the fornicating part unless it's with Kelda. I mean he wasn't even trying to do it with her when she was basically throwing it at him. He was such a sweetie, I hope they bring him back some way or other. I figure they have to if they are going to keep Kelda around since if he's gone for good she's probably going to do nothing but mope forever.

True, though it depends whether the Trickster part is genetic. Someone with Loki's innate magic wiedling capabilities, but an entirely different personality, who was obedient to Doom would be VERY useful.

At a guess, yes. He will still have the vaults full of Kirby-tech, which is pretty and all, but sometimes you just want a damp, dank dungeon to work in.

Oh, man, this is pretty cool! I love how Loki's all "Well, basically I'm Loki," and Doom is all "He's Loki, I'm not even going to." He's too smart to try and alter Loki's nature, he's just treating him like a force of nature and harnessing him where he can.

Also it pleases me that after seeing Richards clone Thor, Doom promptly clones Loki. It's a really, really good incident of actual in-story consequences of doing something shitty. Of course if you start cloning yourself deities the enemy will too.

Loki's a frost giant. The change in skin tone and reduction of the horns to just part of his attire are his adaptation as a shape-shifter.

Look up some of his "children", you'll see the part about being a shapeshifter driven home.
