Funnily enough, the first issue of Millar's Marvel Knights Spider-Man that she video-taped every appearence of Iron Man as well as every news story with her dear nephew. When Peter finds out and asks her, she replies: "It's that little moustache, sweetie. Don't you think he looks just like Ronald Colman?"

That's how I saw it. IIRC the last time Maria was with a non-comotose Tony was right before he went on the run and they did the deed. I doubt a huge amount of time has passed since then - and even with his brain all wacky he's moved on to Pepper.

See, I always thought that it added depth and complexity to Tony Stark's character that despite his Casanova approach to life, that he treated Pepper differently-- that he thought their relationship was special and didn't need to (and maybe shouldn't) involve sex.

But nope, apparently he was just biding his time, the way he does with every other woman who crosses his path. Thanks Fraction!

I'll assume that Echo is another Vertigo title, since I'm not familiar with it. But honestly, I bought the first trade of Air and was left singularly unimpressed. It was competently written, but the art frankly wasn't that great and the story arc itself was...disjointed and kinda weak. Unwritten seemed OK, but it didn't wow me as much as I had expected it to.

Honestly, a good chunk of Vertigo's output appears to be people trying to recapture the magic of Morrison (Air) or Gaiman (Unwritten). That and the fact that they spend a huge amount of time vacillating (as a line) between Magic Realism and Gore.

Echo is Terry Moore's new book after SiP.

I guess I'd just rather see best new book go to something original or compelling than just another section of Marvel New Event Just Like The Old Event.

Although I suppose actually presenting a good book in the midst of multiple Crossover Events might be worthy of an award or two.

Pepper and Tony have been romantically dancing around each other since the characters inceptions. Pepper was originally infatuated with Tony and Happy was just hoping for a chance, until they hooked up and then ran off together. Then they adopted, had problems and divorced. Then they reappeared after Heroes Reborn and remarried and then conceive, but Pepper loses her baby when a villain attacks her. Then Happy is badly hurt and eventually (supposedly) euthanised by Tony. Then she becomes a member of the Order. Then she becomes Tony's 'Special Projects' coordinator.

When you factor in that Marvel is trying to bring comics-Tony into line with movie-Tony and the fact that they've had a long 'almost' relationship, it's not that surprising. More surprising is the intimation (if the supposition that it happened a few issues ago is correct) that Pepper would have initiated it when and where she did...given that Tony was hardly in his right mind AND won't remember it when he's back on his feet).
