He's... really darn powerful. Has been for awhile.

Basically. Even back in the Silver Age he could use his powers to channel into other dimensions.

The current version is immortal, can teleport, can creature constructs from nothingness as well as sentient creatures, and can time travel.

I think that he is to "darkness" what Swamp Thing is to plants, and what Animal Man is to animals, at least how it's been phrased in some comics.

And considering there's a lot of darkness in the Universe, he's got a lot to work with.

Out of curiosity, when did he time travel?

In the Space storyline, they ended up in the year 3000 and met the Legion of Superheroes that the current Starman in JSA is from. The Shadehad gotten there due to the whole immortality thing, but due to a kind of shadow-cancer he'd been given he's jettisoned himself into space for centuries.

Long story short, the shadowcancer expanded and swallowed several solar systems, which the lost in time Jack Knight and friends fixed. The Shade then sent them back in time again to get them closer to home.

I think that he mentioned the time travel thing in a monologue as well.

Hunh... live and learn. I remember the future arc well, but I don't remember him time travelling, or rather making Jack time travel. Actually, in that scenario he didn't time travel, he made someone else do it, I wonder if he can manage it for himself.
