The war between Daredevil and HAMMER heats up, as the Normster sends a battalion of HAMMER troopers into Hell's Kitchen to confront the Hand's ninja army, which has taken over a police precinct.




The police start shooting, and the ninjas attack, as part of Kingpin's plan to pit the two sides against each other while he watches from the sidelines.

Next morning, Dakota and Foggy survey the scene of the fight, from which all the cops/HAMMER guys seem to have vanished.




"...we'll have built a bigger prison."

Currently, he's holding all of Osborn's men in little cages in the sewer (and I mean literally in the sewer; they're at least waist-high in the water).

Also, countdown to Matt/Angela initiated.

I really don't want to see the Kingpin back in play. I like the idea of The Hood, a street level wiseguy who got superpowers who actually organized costumed villains into a working criminal organization. The mob with superpowers and silly costumes.

Kingpin, while a great character in his time, seems like a step backwards. Even with his his assassins and muscle, I just can't imagine this guy getting away with it in a world of people like Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man. It seemed like only people like Daredevil, Spider-Man, and Punisher ever regularly dealt with the Kingpin... while the more Save the World superheroes ignored a large criminal organization operating within their home city.

Maybe that's just me but it always seemed a little off. Why didn't the Avengers or Nick Fury take him down? I don't know why The Hood's pragmatism, and lead from the front style of showig he's not afraid to get his hands dirty, just seems to click better to me in the world with costumed villains than untouchable Fisk in his ivory tower.

International peacekeepers don't tend to bother with thing that only affect one city, no matter how large.

I'd imagine it would be even more the case with superheroes who save the world all the time. With Doctor Doom, Loki, and the Mandarin out and about, who needs the extra work of bringing down someone who doesn't want to rule the world?

He's an embodiment of the potential of man, in comics forum. Yes, he's evil. And yes, he lacks super powers. But that's exactly his point. The human capacity for evil, and genius, is *more* scary then a guy who flies.

It is to me, anyway.

Dammit, when Daredevil took over Hand, I didn't want him to go bug fuck crazy like this. I wanted to see something cool like him taking on other bad guys, finding out about Izo, taking on and handling bigger fights, working with other heroes , getting a cool new costume or heck fighting bad guys in Japan, NOT going through another MEH or his 50th breakdown.

To be fair, DD can't really have a good day without Bullseye murdering 10 of his immediate family and his dog, so that ruins anyone's heroic feelings.

I miss Pierce-written White Tiger. I have a feeling she would be into this mess for about thirty seconds before saying, "You know what? I'm not dealing with this craziness," and trying to talk some sense into Daredevil.

Yay, I thought I was the only one too! I actually heard about her White Tiger work from her site, then I found the book in my library! I wish she did more comic work....

Sadly, it seems unlikely she'll be coming back to Marvel at the very least. My memories are a bit fuzzy on the specifics since it was several years ago, and she understandably didn't get into too much detail on her livejournal, but so far as I can tell what happened is that she and her husband didn't fit at all into the boys' club atmosphere of the company and they weren't quiet about being critical. I really don't know whether it was them or their editors who decided they had to leave, but leave they did.

That's right, her husband did the art for that book! But I'm not surprised their views wouldn't jive well with the general Marvel attitude. Now, if she went to DC and started writing any of the Titans books, or any of the girl superheroine books...that would be excellent. Wow, what if she wrote a new book for Cass? (I guess I should just ask for a pony while I'm at it...)

Okay, so I haven't been reading. People who have, am I off-base in my impression that this is Matt pulling a Kingpin again, except with moar ninjas and not originally of his own free will?

As much as I hate this, I have to admit, the one thing I like is Norman going up against a truly powerful and CRAZY "hero," because Norman is just barely self-aware enough about his own insanity that, if he realized that an enemy was even more bugfuck batshit than himself, he'd likely shit his pants in terror.

In fact, now I want to see it - Norman Osborn versus the Mask. The Mask would literally drive Norman SANE, and it would be the most horrible feeling that Norman has ever felt in his life.

So it's okay for a self appointed "hero" to sanction the cold blooded murder of HAMMER troops, who, one assumes, are not ALL kill crazy bastards, but are just grunts doing their job?

And yeah, I don't care what you're responsibilities are, you don't declare war like that with yourself as the figurehead, then wander off to Japan.

It's a good thing I really don't give a crap about Daredevil.

That's still very far away from the heroic end of the scale. I mean, it can't be too much to ask that superheroes not specifically written as being anti- or otherwise subversive/problematic should abide by the Geneva Conventions.
