Soundwave is, of course, badass. He's the only one who could get away with telling two uber-powerful Decepticon leaders they're being brats and not end up looking in the gutter for his head.

Anyways, anyone else see that scene of Megatron and Shockwave struggling and thinking that they're actually trying to make out and being frustrated by Shockwaves lack of a face?

Now this is the Soundwave I like. An actual character, as opposed to the stack of cardboard boxes he was in the cartoon.

Marvel UK Soundwave was badass and was always more eloquent than the vocodered voice in the cartoon. Given that he led the Decepticons a few times when Megatron or Shockwave were off the scene and was, arguably, the most effective Decepticon leader, having a bit more charisma was no bad thing.

The "*puttup!*" thing's a bit of an in-joke - the letters page of the UK Transformers comic was supposedly answered by Soundwave and all the letter responses used to be punctuated by the *puttup!* sound effect every time time the name of one of the Autobots was mentioned.

Yea, but he also beat up Fortress Maximus and almost wiped out the Autobots. That's pretty impressive for a cassette :)

Nothing to say he doesn't sound like the glorious cartoon voice, it's not like there would be a decent vocoder font they could use.

Hmm, wonder if Tranformer saliva is oil based. Robot Master might have been luckier than he knows, if such is the case, sidestepping it like that.

I tried reading the UK comics once, but the art kept putting me off. But maybe it's worth another go around.

It varies far more than US title. Some's better, some's worse. The guy generally regarded as the best of the Marvel artists (Geoff Senior) was a UK import.
