Between this and the car from last episode, they really are setting up Magnus as a big pimp.

Mercury better say that line this episode.

Hopefully with Doc, or Batman replying with the names of the other 4.

Or, better yet, both of them.

Doc: 'Caesium.'
Bats: 'Francium.'
Doc: 'Gallium.'
Bats: 'Rubidium.'

Mercury: 'You both suck.'

Not that I'm aware of. They're not usually in stories where that sort of thing would be addressed as a plot point. And IIRC John Byrne had a reveal that none of them were really made of their actual metal (otherwise Gold and Platinum would bankrupt ANYONE, never mind the rest) and the responsometers interacted with a programmable compound of Magnus' creation to mimic their metals. I believe that 52 undid this and they're back to always having been made out of their metal and don't wonder about the cost.

Plus in the Metal Man B story from Doom Patrol, Magnus neighbors make a big deal out of this fact, and Magnus points out that all the metal men conform to the highest safety standards, and are perfectly safe to be around.

As for the cost, in numerous instances (like the Metal Men miniseries and the Superman/Batman Metal Men arc) Gold was either destroyed completely or reduced to a head because Doc can't afford to rebuild him without financial backing to cover the expense (hence the inclusion of new member Copper, who has the running gag of being completely forgettable in the Doom Patrol Back story.)

Of course, they didn't wonder about these things in the Silver Age, so the Metal Men were getting busted up all the time back then (In fact, if the issue didn't end with someone destroyed or stranded in space, it was a rarity).
