They don't even understand their own history. They don't understand what the stamp tax issue was about, they don't understand that some of our founding fathers were deists or not sure if there was a God. They take history and they pervert it for their own needs. I'm infuriated when anyone does that.

We're supposed to learn from our history not rewrite it into what we want.

This is also why I hate most history text books and why more and more history teachers are using supplemental reading materials more than the state issued text books in a effort to combat this.

Well, Zinn's book was selling very well even before he passed on. Maybe you could find some solace in that...?

And there's plenty of that kind of "perversion" all over the political spectrum, sad to say.

When history text books don't have women history and black history in tiny little boxes on the sides as a "oh btw this is what the non white men were doing at the time" and when American History texts don't just stop after WWII, or leave out information because the children might be confused, then I will take some solace in anything.

And when I see a liberal group dressing up in "period clothing" and spouting off lies and ignorance as truth I will be just as upset at them as I am this group.

SCA generally prides itself on being as period accurate as possible. And ren faire people don't even claim to be period accurate, either that or there were more elves, hobbits, and fairies in the 1600s then I previously have been led to believe. XD
