In Amazing Spider-Man #18, we see the various reactions the heroes and villains have to the news that Spider-Man apparently ran away from a fight with the Green Goblin (he actually had run away because he overheard that Aunt May had suffered another heart attack and was asking for him).

Uh, Janet...you're just able to become small and wear a flight rig. That doesn't mean you're actually a wasp.

Hmm, I wonder if she ever tried to paralyze Hank and lay her eggs on his body?

She probably tried, ergo the famous-slap.

The idea reminds me of Franken Fran:

Uhm. possibly NSFW. Massive nightmare fuel.

In Ultimates, Hank refers darkly to finding eggs in the bed and criticizes her personal hygiene.

Actually, whether it was a retcon or not (I can't remember) she does have some wasp DNA in her. In Marvel Feature, she got royally screwed up by a failed attempt at a fix for Hank, who was stuck at tiny size, and got stuck too, but it had mutated what she'd been injected with in order to become the Wasp in the first place, so for the rest of the story, whenever she got too angry, she would mutate into a psycho half-wasp thing and try to kill anything that was small enough. He was able to fix it once they were found by the Avengers, but still.

IIRC, that didn't come until later (Around the same time Sue Storm got her force fiields, I think). The original Wasp was basically Hank with anti-gravity.

You might be right. While there was biochemical altering from day one, doing some digging, the whole wasp DNA thing doesn't seem to be showing up until around '71-'73ish.

Yeah, that was a thing that first popped up when Spidey tried to join the Avengers the first time. I think that and this were the only two times it was ever mentioned.

It came up as a joke in the Spectacular Spidey run written by He Who Must Not Be Named, but I think it died after that.

Virtually all Stan Lee's female "fighters" were created to function as ornaments that occasionally spoke. It's kind of a retroactive miracle that some of them became likable and interesting, eventually.

Yeah, and I have an issue of Thor where, because of a curse he was afflicted with by Hela to have unhealing wounds, he had to run from Absorbing man.

Whose courage didn't match their power then ya big blond brick of meat? At least Spidey had an excuse that he was looking after his poor old aunt.

I always remembered this panel whenever Giant-Girl and Spidey would bicker in Marvel Adventures: Avengers a.k.a. superheroly rivalries done right. In that book, it's adorable and not at all morally bankrupt for Jan to snark on Pete. WHY DID YOU LEAVE, MA:A?!

Jan's just jealous that with Spider-Man around she wasn't the prettiest Avenger anymore . ;P

Except he wasn't an Avenger at this point. He became a reserve member a number of years later, but it's only in recent years that he's been an active part of the team.

Ed Coutts did a series of commissions that shows how Spider-Man and the Wasp's relationship could have gone differently.

I supposed you could think the last one was Betty Brant or Mary Jane Watson with shorter hair.

Kinnnnnnky. I've heard of fantasies involving giants/giantesses (mostly the latter), but this is the first I've seen of a SHRINKING fetish. (MUTUAL shrinking, I mean; stuff where one person gets shrunken down is fairly common.)
