First time I didn't roll my eyes at the Punisher.

And that Doc Ock story is just cute. "Octomom tells all!"

Isn't the Punisher story essentially over after page 1?

The fact that the guy is speaking to the Punisher is the punchline. We can all work out what happens next.

It's like me telling you about a man who walked into a bar. It was an iron bar and he bashed his nose off it, so it is probably broken and he'll have two black eyes for a while!

Without the context of the second page we'd be able to read it as the Punisher just trying to hook up in a gay chatroom

I don't think the calamari curry sample kid deserved his fate so much as the woman who viewed breakfast cereal as an ingredient for tempura batter (used for deep frying) for sushi (which is raw), since it makes no sense and IS truly a disgusting thought.

And I have to say that's about the only time I've ever smiled at a Punisher story.

The local Japanese restaurant up here serves Tempura shrimp sushi. I'm sure it has another name in Japan but us whiteys just call it sushi. Although cereal as an ingredient still makes no sense.

Whoa! Those two stories that close together create some serious cognitive dissonance..
They're both great, but the shift in tone is really fucking crass.

I wish the Sinister Six would get the same treatment as the Rogues. They're some of Marvel's most sympathetic and relatable villains.

You could work the Wrecking Crew, Taskmaster, Trapster, Batroc and few others. I think a sympathetic super-criminal series would awesome. They could call it "Working for a Living."

Yeah the Punisher story was over after page 1. I do find the overlapping photos and the girl smiling smugly interesting but really, one page and you're good.

And with the first one... I think that's the first time I've ever read a Punisher appearance without rolling my eyes. Aside from the time Molly punched him out.

That scene at the carnival shooting gallery... that was from the Vigilante story about that father molester by "The Master" Moore.... did they thought no one would notice? It's like Peter Griffin ripping off the John Candy's speech from Planes, Trains, and Automobiles after Lois rightfully chewed him out, they just straight out used the same thing that everyone seen.

While I like the Punisher short as a Punisher short, it strikes me as a weird story to put in something titled Girl Comics. (For example, I'm not sure I'd want to try to explain this to my hypothetical 10 year old daughter.)

I demand a series that's just a bunch of 2-5 page short stories about Dr. Octopus going about his regular routine. They could call it Doc Ock Living.

Well, that Punisher one looks good. especially for the mood i'm in. I got First Wave instead.

i didn't get the Lucy Kinsey one at all. i think she needs to brush up on her gastronomy:
1) "Coating for tempura to make sushi" - makes no sense to me. tempura is deep fried while sushi is raw.
2) "Calamari curry" - calamari is squid, not octopus. it should have been "Polpetto curry"

Sushi refers to the rice. You can make it with anything. Even BBQ pork.

I like everything I have seen from Girl Comics so far, but I hate so hard the name and the idea.

I get the hate for the name, but am curious about your problem with the idea. I rather like giving lady creators a showcase (plus am a sucker for anthologies).
