I can actually see Kermit pulling off a pretty good Matthew Perry performance.

That's brilliant. And it's even the original version, not the horrible Nick Cage attempt (how do you make a B movie even worse, anyway?). Bravo!

Also: I consider the new Wicker Man to be an unofficial prequel to the Ghost Rider movie. Since that ends with Nick Cage getting burned alive and he spends the majority of Ghost Rider with his head on fire. :)

Am I a bad person for wanting Cage to be a "Method" actor?

Why do they keep giving him fantasy and supernatural roles anyway? They're not what he's good at!

What IS he good at? I've never seen him as anything special in anything I've seen him in. He's sort of passable in "The Rock", but other than that he just annoys the hell out of me in everything he's been in.

To paraphrase the Arrogant Worms, it's not so much he's better in dramatic roles, it's just that he's less worse.

There's lots of room to make The Wicker Man worse, since it's brilliant to begin with.

Well, it's brilliant in a surreal way, or as satire. As a movie on its own merits, I dunno.

I do find the "pagan rituals" hilarious, though. The ones that are based on Morris Dancing and the boys-only maypole dance are my favourites.

It has a magnificent central performance from the late, great Edward Woodward, and Christopher Lee at his most lushly over the top as the villain. It has some terrific discussions about religion between Woodward and Lee underpinning it, plus the scenes of casual paganism by the locals are beautifully done, so yes, as a movie on it's own merits I'd say it's brilliant.

As for the pagan rites, how better to invoke the god of masculine fertility to your side with the ladies than worshipping a giant phallic symbol?
