One page from Batman and Robin #10 (My max posting for this issue)

Dick and Damien return home, after getting news from Alfred that he made discoveries in the mansion while cleaning up the traps left by El Sombrero. Bruce has left clues in the past for them to find him within the mansion, and now they are on a quest within Wayne Manor to find what has been waiting to be discovered. Within these revelations, we get a quiet moment of vulnerability.

This is really upsetting to young Master Wayne, as Damien seem to have found purpose and a family that cares for him, despite his grimmer mood. He's really grown on me.

Oh, that last panel hurt a little.

Damien's become a fun character. I do hope he gets to stay with his father's side of the family.

This was the best Damian in this whole series, imo--starting after the boardroom scene. My favorite moment was when Dick said "the house is coming alive!" and Damian said "You're a freak." Finally Damian's called upon to actually demonstrate this alleged affection for the "circus oaf."

Though the stupid boardroom scene is the opposite of scenes like this and I wish Morrison would drop his over-Sueness. The character imo works sooo much better without it! Likewise, I would have found Damian's feelings about his mother a lot more real if we'd seen them instead of having a 10 year old deliver his feelings about the mother he doesn't know any more than his father as if he's a 50 year old writing his memoirs. I like Damian as an ordinary messed up kid, albeit one with special talents. It makes the flipping of Dick/Damian as the child/adult less creepy when Damian's a bunged up and uptight kid.

Particularly given the way Dick survived Damian's potential murder attempt. See, that is why Dick should completely mystify and capture Damian's heart the way he did Bruce's. Darkness don't touch him.

I think we're really starting to see this. Which is why when Batman and Robin ends, I'll be sad to see the end of Dick and Damian working together.

I still think this story is very much about the growth of both Dick and Damian and not just Damian.

I think we're seeing something like it here for the very first time ever. It's really refreshing. I just don't think Morrison deals very well with balancing those good moments with his normal over-Suing of the kid.

I guess we'll see where Dick winds up but as of now I don't really get the sense of his growing. He seems to have started out at a lower level and was mostly there to react to Damian, talk about Damian and do weird things like bring Bruce to the Lazarus Pit because that's what Robin would do. I'd love if we eventually got a believable 2-sided kid/guy relationship out of this by the end.

It actually kinda makes me think of the family on vacation to someplace like the Grand Canyon, with the parents oohing and ahhing over the environment and the kid's numbly following along playing his PSP. :D

Thisss. Fine if people like him, but I just do. not. understand the attraction. I think he's a rude, obnoxious brat.

... But I also have a job working with spoiled whiny kids, and the last thing I want is more of that in something that I usually enjoy, haha. Frankly, few things would make me happier than Talia returning to collect her spawn and then the two of them disappearing off the scene for the rest of forever.

I have been waiting for someone to post this stuff; I've never wished harder that I owned a scanner in my life.

I love this scene, and the next panel where Dick says Bruce would never humor Damian like he does, and you can see that Damian knows this and it breaks my heart even when Dick tries to say he was joking but Damian knows it's true and... daww. It's so sweet. Combine this with the scene where Damian tries to defend Dick from his mother's insults and we have one of my favorite issues for him.

It also makes the board room scene better, because Damian's turning his obnoxiousness away from the big brother and butler who care for him.

Now I'm scared something stupid will happen to bring back the angst now that characters are starting to get along.

I'm a little confused. Wasn't the manor destroyed during No Man's Land? How can these clues and hidden passages and stuff still exist? Or did Bruce (time lost Bruce) go back to when the Manor was being rebuilt and put them in?
Or were some parts of the Manor just not destroyed?

I've been totally wondering the same thing. It keeps making me think of all the things Bruce would have to have done to make sure it all got put back completely right that doesn't imply that Bruce knew he was going to get thrown back in time before it happened.

Dick should talk to that doctor who used to send him and Bruce back in time.

I like to think that it was Time Lost Bruce hanging out after No Man's Land and doing stuff behind Normal Time Bruce's back. Like, Normal Bruce gives the builders instructions about rebuilding the Manor, and as soon as he walks away, Time Lost Bruce appears and tells them to do something different.

"Okay Mr. Wayne, we'll get right to building that helicopter pad. *walks down hall* Mr. Wayne!? How did you get here so fast? ...You want me to build a secret passage to what!? ...okay.."

But that also makes no sense. I just find it mildly amusing.

I have no idea who you're talking about, but I'm intrigued. =] Who was this doctor, and were the story lines with him as hilarious as the ones I'm imagining?

I would put forth that this final page from Detective 729 would contradict that:
(click for bigger)

I think this is just a case of Morrison not worrying about past details (something I feel he has done in the past) or we can just chalk it up to a state of quantum flux left over from infinite crisis. Superboys punch not only brought Jason back from the dead, but rebuilt the parts of the manor where all the secret passages are. :)

Well, thats where it gets a little fuzzy imo.

Earth 1 is the primary earth we dealt with after Crisis on Infinite Earths when the multiverse collapsed and we had only one to deal with.

New Earth (aka Earth 0) is the primary earth we now deal with after Infinite Crisis and 52. However New Earth is supposed to be an amalgam of of the pre-Crisis Earth-One, the pre-Crisis Earth-Two, the pre-Crisis Earth-Four, the pre-Crisis Earth-S, the pre-Crisis Earth-X, the Dakotaverse, and the post-Crisis/post-Zero Hour Earth. So technically I guess there is plenty of fuzzy space to deal with inconsitencies spread across multiple worlds being combined but it still seems like a cheap cop out to me by Morrison not respecting what came before.
