And then there is a bunch of fighting and it turns out the animals are being stolen for some mad scientist's experiments. Midnighter kicks everyone in the head.












That was Issue 8 and four years ago and Christos Gage still remains to me as "the writer who had Mindy rescue a kitteh".

Aww. That was cute. I'm somewhat ticked off at the owner of the cyber dog, though. If one of my dogs went missing and then came back half robot, I'd still want it because I love my dog.

For some reason, "No, ma'am, I was part of a junta" is hysterical.

And the rest was d'awworthy. "You're welcome, sweetheart" is not a phrase I expected to see coming from Midnighter's mouth, but that's what makes it so great.

My terrier would totally shoot lasers at my daschund if she thought it'd get her an extra bite of his food. Ground-to-ground missiles, if she had them.

Maybe it was that sort of thing that forced this dog's original owners to hand him over to Midnighter?

A heinous contraption is storing the kinetic energy from people crossing the street--to nefarious purposes! The graffiti is being left by people who have been trapped in another dimension, who can only interact with ours through spray paint!

I'd recommend picking up Midnighter #7, the issue Vaughan wrote. It's collected in Midnighter: Anthem, too, but then again so's the story that killed this series so if I were you I'd just stick to tracking down the back-issue.

That could genuinely be a pretty interesting story, a nice twist on the old "people trapped in paintings" folktale.

Bonus points for a cute scene where Apollo tries to convince him graffiti is art.

That "Didn't you used to be president?" was probably the moment I fell in love with the regular people in Wildstorm universe. The poor little worker ants in a world filled with big stomping things they are.

Though I've got to admit that has also something to do with the other examples in the market.

I love the Midnighter and this only sets that in stone.

To be honest? They could get rid of everyone else in the Authority and leave him, and I'd be fine with it. I doubt I'd have given much of a shit about it without him.

I love this issue. So much. "Dare accepted... you unbelievable bastard." Christos Gage manages to make Midnighter adorable without in any way diluting his ability to be a solid stone badass. This is a neat trick, and only a few other writers manage it.

I too love the mom's casual attitude to meeting him. No 'OMG scary masked guy,' just... yeah, I remember you vaguely. Wildstorm civilians are a jaded lot :)

Also, Jean Paul Leon art. I would love to see him draw more Authority.

Belle would just use her laser eyes to dig holes in the ground and hide in them. XD

Kiwi, Bindi and Peanut (our 3 Basenjis) would combine their laser power and destroy in no particular order: the vacuum cleaner, the UPS guy (who has the audacity to come to the door and ring the bell and then leave!), and any and all things with polyfill - for polyfill is apparently 'the enemy'.
