So Bad Fashion? When I hear 'Bad Fashion' only one costume comes to mind it was a creation of Phil Jiminez in the 90's crack (not the good kind) comic series known as "Team Titans" After Donna lost her powers, settled down with Terry, Robert and a group of time displaced super teens they got a visitor...the Future Nightwing.

He never got a new name you see, only 'Future Nightwing' so the Evil Dark Slutty Raven (who deserves her own entry in Crimes Against Fashion...x_x) decided to fix that by giving him the same treatment that Tim Burton gave Selina Kyle in 'Batman Returns'

He woke up to a whole new outlook on life! Gave himself a makeover!



And a new name!



Oh dear lord...do I need to add commentary? It's not possible I don't think it's possible to put how bad this get up is into words.

The medusa hair?
The overabundance of shiney sharp pointy things?
The nipple ring?
The really pointy mask that looks like something the Huntress rejected as 'too much'?
The Evil Emperor collar that makes the original one subdued?
This is Bad 80's Fashion converted into Bad 90's Fashion in some hidious mutant process only known to Phil Jiminez!

A Picture is worth 1000 words...and the follow up costume is quite possibly worse, I lack scans of that.

For real... Cassie's "Can't raise my arms" Wonder Girl outfit makes more sense than this. Then again, extrapolating from the teeth and the tagline in the first cover, Dick's ... a vampire? So the multiple stab wounds heal quickly?

In defense of Deathwing, at least the blue and yellow of his costume don't clash. (The silver does, and I'm not sure why he has metallic bird's heads for shoulder pads. But the blue and yellow don't clash.)

Worth mentioning that there is a long sequence in the arc where we see that evil!Raven used her powers to trigger pain and pleasure to an extent that this kinda-Nightwing (long story) was driven to a level of complete S&M insanity.

God, I loved Team Titans but Deathwing (and Mirage) were annoying. Future Nightwing was genuinely badass though before Raven mindscrewed him, pointlessly dragging the Team Titans into that phase of the New Teen Titans.

It's the little spiked-ball-and-chain on his ankle band that does it for me. It reminds me of the sort of costume that you get in City of Heroes when someone goes for as many skulls and spikes as they possibly can, which in that game's character creator is a lot.

People who wonder what went so wrong with comics in the 90s need look no further than here.

The one good thing about this costume was its politically correct equality: The character got more evil, and thus exposes ridiculous amounts of skin, also a nipple ring. Let's just be grateful they didn't give him a Prince Albert, mmkay?
