To complement [personal profile] glprime's excellent Amalgam Comics entries, here's possibly the strangest book they put out, in terms of out-there combinations:

Generation Hex was an amalgamation of mutant teen team Generation X with Jonah Hex and various other DC Wild West characters.

While robbing a train, Hex's team meets Trask's secret weapon.

Hex comes up with a plan to get the unrelenting Razormen off their trail. The plan involves the nearby malform-hating town of Humanity.

His team terrorizes the town, and Jono Hex shows up to "rescue" the townsfolk, under the guise of a dashing human gunfighter.

He gets hailed as a big hero.

After Hex and company leave, the Razormen arrive at town, still in pursuit.

I've never been able to figure out who the Marvel half of Johnny Random, and the DC halves of Retribution and White Whip are...

The marvel half of Johnny Random is definitely Random:

I have no clue on the other two.

I guess his ability to form his body into weapons and shoot bio-bullets made him a decent choice for a western-based book, but I don't think I've seen him even once in a GenX book.

Aurora, Northstar and Siryn were never in GenX either.

Are you sure that's Terry and not Sean? He was one of the leaders on Gen X, after all. Though I'm not entirely sure who the DC half is there.

As mentioned below, Madame .44, a western hero (of course).

The 'mental powers' aspect is odd (.44 is powerless), but I assume it's an application of the Banshee voice powers.

I recall the letters page making reference to a 'Previous' title called Weird Western Mutants In Love, a version of Black Tom Cassidy who could only explode Cactuses, and a certain Pow Wow Boom Boom Smith.

What might have been...

Someone owns a brothel in an X-Men Old West AU and it isn't Emma Frost? I call shenanigans.

Judging from her face and costume, I'd say she's Emma Frost crossed with DC's Silver Banshee.

Madame Banshee's the redhead. The one who looks like Emma (because she is part Emma) is White Whip. Madame Banshee is a cross of Banshee and Madame .44 (wife of Johnny Thunder - the DC half of Johnny Random).

Each character here is a combination of a Marvel mutant (or mutant related character) and a DC western hero - Banshee/Madame .44, Skin/Scalphunter, Aurora and Northstar/The Trigger Twins (with a random dash of Cinnamon for Aurora), Chamber/Jonah Hex (no doubt chosen just for the 'Jono Hex' name), White Queen/Whip*, Bolivar Trask/Bat Lash, Penance/Firehair*, and Random/Johnny Thunder.

* I finally managed to find a list of Amalgam characters which listed who got merged into these two. Although it seems to list the wrong Whip for White Whip, giving the WWII-era version, not the 19th century version. Rereading the book with a little more knowledge of DC's Western heroes (which this post prompted me to do) made Firehair a 'duh' moment, as Retribution's mentioned as being Blackfoot, don't get much more red than her hair...

Now this? This would have been an awesome ongoing series. Or maybe I'm just weird and harbor a perverse and unnatural love for Jono in any form.
