Two stories from X-Men Unlimited v2 6 and 12 featuring the respective love lives of Kitty Pyrde and Wolverine.



From X-Men Unlimited 06, three and a third pages of an eleven page story. The story was written by Tony Bedard and drawn by Paul Pelletier.









She goes on to note that it was mainly their best date because it was the only one they went on that wasn't interrupted by supervillains or something of that ilk. And, for the record, the dress does turn out to have belonged to Storm.

From X-Men Unlimited 12, three and a half pages of an eleven page story. This story was written by Stuart Moore and drawn by C. P. Smith. The premise is that Wolverine is attacked and injured by a group of wolves. The story is his thoughts as he recovers.

Was this issue pre or post-Pete Wisdom? Because "only man I ever loved?" I don't even like Wisdom, but still... Ow.

She's worn heels multiple times in Excalibur, at least to my memory, and had no trouble. That would have to put this before, unless she somehow forgot how to walk in them just for this night.

She's the 14 year old Sprite here, as noted in the first page. Excalibur was a long way away...

Agreed, but I have two sort-of issues with that 1) The telescoping nature of comic time only works if you don't ever refer to it (such as noting how many Christmas/Hannukah stories they'd had in what was considered to be a year) and 2) Claremont's not letting Kitty get any older despite other characters growing up around her always irked, especially after the New Mutants were on the scene. It always felt to me that her 15th birthday in Excalibur should have been something like her 17th.

This story also still means that 19/20 year old Piotr took a 14 year old on a date, and that will never sit right with me.

I've seen that happen in real life. (And with the whole, we'll wait until she's of age before going further bit..) So it doesn't irk me too much. (Especially since Pete at this point is waaaay shyer that she is..)

Howver what does bother me is that if the events of Excalibur were supposed to be in universe only a year after this, and she slept with Pete Wisdom in that. (As I've heard. As I've never actually seen the issue) Wouldn't that make her 15? Which even in the UK is still sex with a minor, since the legal age of consent here is, as you probably know from your name tag, 16.

But then I think comic book aging has long ago lost any credibility. Reading comic books in the 80es it was just about possible to believe that perhaps a couple of years in real life equated with maybe one in the comic book world. But I think we're long past that now...

Warren Ellis has gone on record as stating that as far as he was concerned Kitty was older than 16 when she and Pete had sex (I can't recall if he said he thought she was 18, but may well have done) so she was never under legal age. As I recall, it was Claremont who later de-aged her when he came back to the X-titles.

As someone whose favourite character was Dick Grayson, I was VERY used to the concept of telescoping time.

Yeah, that relationship has never ever sat well with me and to this day it still pisses me off that they destroyed Wisdom/Kitty ti reanimate its dead carcus.

Well, when they broke up, she tells him, quite possibly just to hurt him, that she only though she loved him. Maybe that was taken at face value here.

Who knows.

I take nothing that Ben Raab wrote in Excalibur as having any worth at all.

This. Raab (and as a corollary, the return of Clairemont to X-Men) was the worst thing ever to happen to that comic.
