Four pages behind the cut.

Greed entity = serpent from the Garden of Eden
Rage entity = a transmogrified Cain?
Hope entity = some kind of bird, Ziz? Someone actually suggested Jesus...
Compassion entity = Cthulhu lol
Yeah, the Christian mythology allusions have to be intentional.
(sucks about not getting names for the others though D: )
Also, from /co/ (ignore the blatant typos):

Date: 2010-03-25 05:44 am (UTC)"Octopuses have a relatively short life expectancy, and some species live for as little as six months. Larger species, such as the North Pacific Giant Octopus, may live for up to five years under suitable circumstances. However, reproduction is a cause of death: males can only live for a few months after mating, and females die shortly after their eggs hatch. They neglect to eat during the (roughly) one month period spent taking care of their unhatched eggs, but they don't die of starvation. Endocrine secretions from the two optic glands are the cause of genetically-programmed death (and if these glands are surgically removed, the octopus may live many months beyond reproduction, until she finally starves)."
The species doesn't continue without the sacrifice of the parents. the Indigo Lanterns made several references to denying their own interests for the sake of the greater good, a selfless act of love (love can be selfless, but not all love is selfless).
Or, to continue the Christian themes that seem to be being brought out in this, "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends" (John 15:13).

Date: 2010-03-25 07:07 am (UTC)When the wife of the current Dr. Jekyll was asked when was the first time she felt she could kill someone, she said that it was when she saw her first born sons. That anything that would harm them would die. And that's what Mr. Hyde was... not rage, but love: savage, uncontrollable, unyielding, unrelenting love in all it's ugly forms. Love that would consume and burn and kill those that did not give back love. I think that's the Predator.
