Is anyone else disappointed that Greed isn't some sort of Garfield/Sea gull hybrid? It lools like a giant orange snake and nothing else. At least Red Bull (should have wings) has a few extra horns.

Rage could possibly be Abel. Quoting Genesis 4:10 (God talking to Cain about Abel): "Thus God said, 'What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground.'" There would be precedent for this mindset, as Atrocitus' rage was triggered by a grave injustice (the extermination of almost his entire sector), and other Red Lanterns have been shown to have become Red Lanterns due to horrific injustices.

Hope seems like it would be a phoenix, rising from the ashes of despair.

Having the Serpent of Eden being Avarice makes sense, given how he tempted Eve to be more like God, effectively saying "You're not content with just being yourself when you could be so much more, are you?"

I'm still trying to figure out Compassion Squid.

Still, that spread is going to be a desktop background for me. So pretty!

They're all obvious animal analogs. Except for the Predator. I still have no clue what's up with that thing. A mutated Tyrannosaurus rex?

I'm amused by the fact that the Love entity is scarier looking than the Fear one. I find most of the entities rather cute looking. Especially the Rage one with it's stubby little legs.

The storm and the bird remind me of how Noah sent the dove out when the flood ended. But I doubt that was the origin of the Hope entity.

I have no particular objection to incorporating Christian mythology into DC canon in and of itself. It's been done marvelously with Spectre and Phantom Stranger in the past, and even managed to work for Supergirl.

It's kind of jarring coming out of the mouth of an extraterrestrial former member of an organization first founded before the Earth even finished spinning itself spherical, though.

It's really hard to have a monomyth, especially that monomyth, in a universe that big and diverse.

But writers have no sense of scale and CHRISTIANITY DOMINATES ALL!

Has anyone else noticed that the only actual "earth looking thing" is the snake and we have seen snakes like that on other planets. While the allegory is there it is quite possible it is not supposed to be Earth Centric. I mean the Bug that forms Parallax is not terran. And a bloody rock? It hints at Cain/Able but doesnt show a dead man on the ground.

Also you see a storming blue world with lightening, if anything the blue could be the phoenix, a creature that dies and returns much like Hope will always return.
