Four scans from Blackest Night #8.

Blah blah, heroes win, white light brings back a bunch of people, starting with most (if not all) of the guys who died during the event, such as the Hawks.  Then there's the big return everyone was expecting out of this:

Martian Manhunter's back, as is Firestorm (both of them; seemingly Ronnie and Jason are now the two halves of the Firestorm persona).  Next up:

And Deadman is alive now (he's pretty sure that's not supposed to happen).

Digger Harkness? Really? Captain Friggin' Boomerang is back? Really..??
Not that I'm complaining mind you, but that came totally out of the left field for me, as opposed to well, pretty much everything else about this.

I still have no idea how (and if) they'll try to amke the Aquaman franchise viable again, but for the moment I'm completely content with seeing the characters back (together) again.

Original Rogues reunited, just in time for the new Flash series.

I knew he'd be back, I just hoped Owen would be there too. ;_;

Yeah it does seem like Geoff Johns used this as an opportunity to fill out his personal sandbox a little bit more. I liked Digger a great deal back in his Suicide Squad days and he does deserve a spot on the Rogues, his involvement in Blackest Night was just so low key, it completely passed me by.

I don't have any attachment to Owen per se, but I'd much rather have him in the Rogue's Rookie slot than the obnoxious second Trickster.

I'm actually a bit surprised James Jesse wasn't resurrected too. Especially considering where he died and how that series is pretty much not in continuity.

Not to disagree with the GJ toybox comment, but I thought Digger was one of the busier zombies. IIRC he was fucking with Tim Drake over in BN: Batman and chowing down on babbys in BN: Flash. Considering that Blackest Night seems to have literally been one night, that's not too shabby.

Well, weirdly enough, he didn't resurrect Trickster, despite him dying in a crappy series.

Maybe he though trying to reinstate him into the Rogues again was one time too much?

I just assumed that he preferred his Trickster (he created Axel, don't forget) over the original.

I mean, SOMEBODY has to, statistically speaking.

I don't think the fact he created Axel would sway his opinion much, after all, he created Hunter and had no problem tossing him in the backseat for Eobard Thawne.

Well, I do.

I was referring to the time Johns tried to put the original Trickster back into the Rogues back in "Rogue War" and literally had him put Axel into a dumpster.

They'll launch a new Aquaman series with an "A List" writer (Johns, Tomasi, Bedard) & artist (Reis, Manapul, Van Sciver) team, it'll be one of the better selling DC titles for a year or two, sales will slowly tail off after the big name writer and artist leave, and it will be canceled somewhere between issue 50 and 75. It's pretty much par for the course for characters like Aquaman, Hawkman, Green Arrow, Dr. Strange, Namor, Moon Knight and a few others. They're well-liked and have a pretty good sized following, but they're not quite popular enough to sustain a solo title for hundreds of issues.

I personally don't think all "A-List" characters NEED to sustain a title for hundreds of issues. Aquaman as a character is important to the DCU as a whole - is it really important that he has an ongoing at every moment to justify his existence? The same with characters like Hawkman and Captain Marvel. It sometimes seems that because they are A/B list characters DC thinks should sustain long ongoings they hesitate to use them elsewhere as mere supporting characters - with the result they hardly appear at all. Meanwhile a D-List character like Magog can be appearing in 3 books at one time.

Yeah, I don't HATE that ressurection, or any of them for that matter, but I did think exactly what you thought: "Really?"
