I, Magneto!
Apr. 16th, 2010 08:55 pmI think this was posted in the original Scans Daily. I could be wrong. Regardless short sad little story featuring Magneto.

I felt like using one of my fav devi arts I found awhile back for the intro.
This story first appeared in X-Men Classic, but my version which I scan came from Magneto #0 which reprinted this story and another X-Men Classic tale that I know was originally posted in Scans Daily Version 1.0. Plus it had his "origin" at the time reprinted from X-Men Unlimited vol. 1 #2. Of course that was the gypsy origin.
The story was a simple twelve pager so here's four pages from the story. It starts with Magneto the Nazi hunter and him hunting down a Nazi War Criminal. However after the hunt he experiences a massive head ache so after turning the Nazi in he take's a vacation.
The headaches was Claremont's way of explaining Magneto's madness in his early X-Men appearances until de-aging by Alpha if I recall right. The headache subplot would return in Excalibur vol. 2 whenever he used his powers. Anyway during Magnus's vacation in Rio he meets a human woman named Isabelle who he has feelings for. I always kinda wanted to see more the back-story between these two, but it seems all we ever got was they shacked up and then this. Mark Millar did make a mention of Isabelle being the parents of Pietro and Wanda in the Ultimate verse before Jeph Loeb dropped that and decided to have Magda be the momma:

Magnus attacks his former employers, but they've come prepared wearing special vests that reflect his own mutant power back at him. His Control employers state while looming closer to Magnus then state, "Look on the bright side. At least you'll be rid of those pesky headaches."

Poor Magneto. Dude really needs a hug.
