When last we left off, the FF had realized that Ben Grimm's girlfriend, Alicia Masters, had been kidnapped by a man use a phase teleporter controlled by a wrist band. (Sounds like some ultra exclusive clubs in know in Hollywood.) Meanwhile, the main focus of the story focuses on Alicia Masters, as the blind girl has been brought in to see the Citadel of Science!'s creation run amok. It's The Fantastic Four, #67 Volume #1, from 1967.

And pancakes.

*mods - 8 pages of 32 comic pages.
Warning. Big images. Not dial up safe.

When last we left off, the Reed had deduced that the bracelet on the stranger who took Alicia was the key to their strange departure. To find her, he needs to reverse engineer the device from sight alone. Reed does what he does best.

Big Brain in action. No wonder Sue swoons over manly brilliant scientist.

Meanwhile, Alicia Masters own mission to map the face of Him for the scientists within the caves of the Vault 41 continues. Dr. Hammond, her armed escort, gives in to fear and attacks, Him the artificial man responds with a molecular shield and returns the fire 100 fold. Flame barriers and psionically controlled tendrils contain Hammond, but the fearless and caring Alicia Masters is allowed to continue deep within Lock 41.

The scientists at the Citadel are monitoring Alicia's progress and fear that they cannot control what they've created. A fail-safe is shown within the vast lab.

The FF cope as best as they can while Reed works on recreating the phase/teleporter wrist band from the pictures he's been able to capture in the previous issue.

Meanwhile, Alicia finally reaches her goal, as the strange voice in her mind that guides the blind woman through the caverns to himself now speaks to her clearly as she nears her goal.

The boys suit up and prepare for the unknown.

Que the action, as FF storm the citadel, swarming through the guards as they do best and rushing to rescue Alicia. Dr. Hammond has recovered from his trap and encounters Alicia and Him, as the birthing process has left it terribly weak and vulnerable. Hammond explains that Alicia was used as bait to have Him lower his defenses and trust her, and allow him to get close enough to put him down, because He was too powerful to live beyond the Citadel's power to control. Before Hammond can deliver the deathblow to Alicia and the creation, the creature strikes, it's last energy discharge causing the birth to begin.

The birthing energies cause havoc throughout the Citadel, and FF take advantage of the chaos to race and rescue Alicia within vault 41.

The Thing, the Human Torch and Mr. Fantastic realize they can't match power with the creature that has been unleashed and keep Alicia safe within the collapsing Citadel.

The head scientist can't fight Him, contain structural integrity and fight the FF at the same time, so they trigger their fail-safe. Their creation has other plans, and telepathically blocks the trigger.
The FF make a run for it as there is now way to leave the Beehive without the device, leaving the Citadel of Science to reap what it has sowed.

All I can think is:

"In just 7 days..."

"Him" does look frighteningly like Rocky, no?

Yeah, but the Enclave guys look a lot more like Dr. Scott than Frankenfurter. No sense of style.

So Dr.Scott created Rocky and Frankenfurter stole him? The movie makes a strange kind of sense for me now.

Clearly, somebody needs to schedule a midnight showing to refresh their memory pronto. Of to the convenience store for TP, spray bottle, and Zippo you go!

Okay, maybe Rocky isn't showing near you; I'll have mercy. Frankenfurter (Tim Curry) is the sweet transvestite from Transexual Transylvania who in fact creates Rocky, to his own undoing. Dr. Scott is the supposedly wheelchair-bound mentor figure to Brad and Susan who opposes the alien plot. Stocky, white hair, looks more like the Enclave guys (to bring this back on topic).

No, Rocky looks like HIM. This comic pre-dates Rocky Horror Picture show by 8 years.

And yes, that is Adam Warlock.

The ubermensch seems to have no need of nipples, although he did manifest underpants. He's no Dr. Manhattan, that's for sure.

Has the same sort of cocoon deal going on.

It is indeed Adam Warlock. Gotta say I like the bowl-cut Kirby has him rocking here.

This is why it's important to spray for infestations regularly.
