I wanna cheer, but lately, Thunderbolts has been the only villain series intent on making the starring villains much lamer than they were before. And Marvel villains have been lacking in terms of characterization and credability for a while.

I do still like the Midnighter (most of the time), but there was a scene in one of the Kev books where three SAS guys have automatic weapons on him, and he does his usual "I've fought this fight a million times in my head already" spiel, and they say "So who wins this one, then?"

Then he tries to get Apollo in on the fight, and Apollo talks him out of it.

This whole issue was about the spear. Everyone who got it, got taken down in some horrible maiming way. When X gets it, he got a full page spread and chatted about how awesome he was going to be now.

I knew it was going to be a great takedown.

Now, that's how dangerous Quicksilver really is. and just the right amount of ego there, to boot (Magneto would be proud).

I sometimes think that Taskmaster himself will eventually be taken out in a similar manner - he'll just come up against that one enemy who is untouchable by him, no matter what he does. Or, worse, he runs into a war god head on. I would prefer Tyr.
