G.I. Joe #155 1/2

For Free Comic Book Day, IDW released G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #155 1/2, a prologue of sorts to the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero series proper, whose first issue will be #156. The series is in the same vein as Marvel's recent "Forever" books, in that it's Larry Hama continuing where he left off all those years ago, as if the intervening comics never happened.

A militia called the Broken Star Liberation Army, whose members are fighting for deregulation, the abolition of taxes, and a completely unfettered free market economy, have attacked various national landmarks.









Someone was watching.









*I'm assuming the rules for Free Comic Book Day comics this year are the same as last year's.

Wait. If this follows the original series, wasn't Mindbender killed when Cobra Commander dropped a mountain on him? And shouldn't Storm Shadow be a Joe?

I never read more than a handful of the Marvel series, but that stuff presumably happened post-Hama - the part that's being ignored.

Oddly enough, both of those were Hama (I have his full run). The post hama writers like Baylock had to come up with a pretty weird explination for bringing back Mindbender.

I've never read the comics involved, but I heard that Storm Shadow was brainwashed back into working for Cobra towards the end of Hama's run.

Odd, the book says there were 155 issues, and this one is marked 155 1/2...
