I like to pretend Dick is dancing in the panel. It makes the text that much better.

I always like to pretend that Dick is dancing; Practising his shimmy when on stake out... boogeying along the rooftops if it's a slow bad guy he's chasing. Half the crime in Bludhaven was stopped by criminals being too distracted by Nightwing, the Dancing Daredevil, to continue. Even when tied-up he'd be practising as best he could.

I was watching a dance reality TV show, and I thought I'd really really like to have a bad-ass character who fights crime with dance-like moves, like River Tam. Or have an issue where Dick or Tim get trained in the mentioned kick-ass (literally) dance moves.

Or maybe get roped into ballroom dancing. With sequined costumes. The ones with the deep V-necks.

Wasn't the break-dancing Vibe enough for you? :)

And funny you should mention Dick and sequinned V necked costumes.. just wait until you see an upcoming post. ;)

Don't know him. I was kinda hoping for a ballet dancer-type asskicker. Apparently, they're really strong and yet really graceful.

Dick in a sequinned V-neck? Really? O_o

In my private canon that's pretty much totally Dick anyway. Remember when he was teaching acrobatics at the community center? He totally took ballet from a hot teacher while he was there.

And I presume the teacher is male? ;)

It's kinda sad they didn't follow through with that Dick as a teacher/community...person idea. One of the bright ones out of those horrendous issues.

Actually, I was thinking female, but as I was writing it I realized I could go either way. I pictured him sort of flirtatiously losing a bet to her so he had to take her class and then of course he was awesome.

Did I ever tell you how during the Olympics I kept imagining various acrobatic superheroes as figure skaters. Most of the men's costumes really did not need that much tweaking! It was pretty much, "Okay, this part should be sequins instead of solid color fabric, and we're good to go."

No argument there, figure skaters and some ballroom dancing costumes have always looked vaguely like superheroic costumes to me. Gymnasts and swimmers (The physiques I tend to find most impressive) unfortunately less so since they tend to wear national team uniforms which aren't as creative.

In the anime Princess Tutu, Fakir and Kraehe (and in the second series, Mytho too) fight with ballet. Yes, ballet.

Check this AMV :)

Oh, anime. Everything's gotta be serious bizness with you. Heh.

But barring the cuteseyness, that was really good. I remember that show was aired in our Animax channel, but the dubbing was really bad. Ech. Is the series on YouTube?

The dubbing is made of pain, especially because of Ahiru's voice. The sub is fine.

I think I saw most of it at least on YouTube at some point. (Funny, I knew the AMV that was linked before I even saw it) It starts off considerably more cutesy than it gets.

That's... a very good way to describe it!

(I was going to say that the music was excellent earlier, but... it has famous classical ballet music, so that would be extreme redundancy.)

"Practising his shimmy when on stake out... boogeying along the rooftops if it's a slow bad guy he's chasing."

I don't know why, but my mental image of that had Dick singing (and dancing to) "These Boots are Made for Walking."

...that image is going to stay with me for a while, I think...
