I have to commend Steve for this.

Victoria (despite serving Osborn) has some good qualities and the fact that he's keeping her close means that he's keeping an eye on her. However, the fact that he's listening to her side of the story and offering her a chance to truly help the country wins her respect because Victoria knows she won't get a second chance so she's not going to screw this up.

Unfortunately, Steve will probably do the same thing for Maria Hill, and as much as I love Steve's noble and forgiving compassion, Steve needs to give Maria Hill a good rake across the coals before he can trust her in SHIELD again. Heck at this point, I wouldn't trust Maria Hill over Victoria Hand and vice versa.

Actually Maria has been pretty Kick ass over in Iron man so

as far as i know, both Maria, and Victoria are going to be working for steve.

she was he only Dark Avenger who was truly acting with any altruism at all.

see Victoria from the beginning was never a bad guy.

steve is right, she was a patriot.

she was given an assignment and she followed orders. however the key word here is that she tried to change things from the inside. she wasnt "Just following orders," she was doing her job and trying to make sure the world didnt go to hell on her watch, if anything, she did more than Osborn did.

all that said... Steve was around when Hitler was around, though i think he missed the Nurremburg trials, i think he understands how charismatic leaders can influence others

I was fully expecting Vikki to get shuffled off into the "characters that will never be used again" pile after Dark Reign ended. Glad to see this isn't the case.

Awesome she's was my favourite Dark Avenger. Glad she's gonna be still around. What team is she heading up?


Also people here know she's gay right? I mean I didn't know till I caught up my reading in a back issue, and this is Scan_daily and I've never seen it mentioned. She's a pretty awesome character so I would've thought she'd have a bigger impact/following round these parts. Especially after the Molecule Man stuff.

If Steve's going to be director of SHIELD, he'll need a long-overdue-promotion. "Captain Rogers" isn't gonna cut it.

Hand was right next to Norman every time he vilated countless human rights. 'Just following orders' and 'serving my country' doesn't cut it. She did far more damage to National Security obeying Norman than any terorist did attacking the country.

If you go back and actually read Dark Avengers, Hand is very deliberately not in the room every time Norman tries to do something blatantly illegal. When he tells the Sentry to murder the Atlantean terror cell, for example, or asks Daken to kill Cyclops during the "Utopia" crossover, Hand is nowhere in sight.

(Granted, when she showed up in other books, she was sometimes depicted as a villainous Girl Friday, but that's probably one of the risks you run with a massive shared universe.)

Her job is to run interference for Norman and to try to keep Norman sane. She did that job, and while she was at it, she saved a bunch of innocent people from the Molecule Man. Hand's an interesting study in motivations and deception.

So he;s hiring a woman who didn't notice that Norman was crazy-go -nuts and whose Avengers were all murderous thugs, including Venom and Bullseye. And he's putting her in charge of the team? Well, at least he'll have a ready-made scapegoat.

Oh she definitely noticed and willingly knew all that, and in fact helped Norman keep control of his own team.

I really did love this isssue, belive it or not i will miss this book. Another thing i loved is that Daken, the jerk that he is, got away scott free.
